  i was told shooting guns and collecting them was not something a jw should do.

  when i lived way up north us it was more of a deer hunting group and so some guns were ok, when i moved to florida it was different.

  most people in the hall were not hunters.

  yesterday i drove passed a town a couple of hours from my home and saw this kh under construction.

  this is the first new design kh i've seen in washington state even though i would think by now another one or two have been built.

  maybe not with their financial situation being the way it is.

  Thanks for your research and bringing together all those SBF posts. It must have taken you some time. Yes, the little vid was funny.

  As for the OP here, that KH design was approved 3 or so years ago for use all over the USA for all new KHs. It is pretty abysmal, but it may indeed be looking forward to resale, as several posters here have said. It may also be to scare active R&F into submission during the consolidation period still going on. "Do what we say or you'll wind up meeting in one of the new KHs. Do you want that?"

  I once heard a religious studies professor (who felt JWs were part of Christianity) at a large university put the difference this way:

  "Mainstream Christians are Christ-oriented. JWs are Father-oriented."

  Simple and to the point.

  BTW he himself was Eastern Orthodox, and no, it wasn't David Bentley Hart.

  he'll likely only be here for a few days like most jw defenders before he runs away when presented with his own doctrine.. so far he's already said some hilarious stuff, like "there's no such thing as nepotism in jehovah's organisation", "confidentiality is paramount to elders" and, my personal favourite "the overlapping generation is so simple to understand".. yh don't think i don't remember you from jwtalk..

  PE, if he is a troll, you've played right into his hands with this post!

  I wonder that since he's been recently approved for the carts, as he says, whether coming here is a way to bolster his FS time.

  Or maybe deep down he is having his doubts and his posts are really a defensive reaction or overcompensation (he is grossly overconfident). In that case, he may come around to seeing the org's corruption by responses here.

  Maybe he's just a WT newbie and hasn't seen the corruption yet.

  Interesting that they are reusing video material

  It's just taking the old procedure of regurgitating in-print material from previous in-print publications and applying it to the new electronic medium. Ray Franz in CofC, I think, discusses how writers were assigned a topic and they just found an old WT or Awake! mag that discussed the matter and reused it. New medium, same old policy.

  Is Watchtower actually producing any new stuff these days?

  Didn't Ray Franz say that the old Aid book was different, that he was told not to "contaminate" it with stuff from the old WT lit. but to make it new? If so, and counting in things like the Commentary on James written by someone else from the same period who was excommunicated, has there been anything really "new" since those days?

  The ID of the F&DS as the GB, the jettisoning of anti-types, and the harebrained "overlapping generations" seem about it. Haven't there been some odd tweakings of the 1914-1919 period and what certain things were supposed to mean too?

  Female JW parking "attendants"

  i was shocked recently to see on social media a couple pictures of jw sisters at a convention working as parking "attendants".

  i put that title in quotation marks because they still don't get the official attendant badge like the male parking attendants do, only the reflective vest.

  Kingdom Hall a total loss after 2nd fire in months

  olympia, wash. -- authorities are investigating the second fire in a matter of months at a jehovah's witness kingdom hall in olympia.. the fire started just after 3:00 a.m. at cain rd se and 22nd se, according to the olympia fire department.

  nobody was inside at the time.. roads near the building were shut down as firefighters investigated.

  sunday my old bethel roommate came up to visit me.

  he left a couple years ago and he wanted to catch up and reminisce.. while we sat back remembering crazy things we saw take place at bethel he reminded me of a creepy instance with bro.

  Is it without point that in his CofC book Ray Franz portrays both Swingle and Sydlik as liberals who shared his viewpoints on matters that came before the GB and in running the org? They liked to side with Ray in discussions and voting.
