I still don't celebrate birthdays or holidays mainly just out of habit, but happy birthday. And to get a little Joseph Campbell on you, "follow your bliss."

Did You Regularly Read The Watchtower & Awake?
by minimus inelders were supposed to set the lead so that the rank and file would follow suit.
i generally read the watchtower thoroughly but seldom did i read the awake.
were you faithful readers of those rags?

I got to the point that I didn't read them at all just because I could look at the title and tell you what it was going to say. Just like when I never studied for the school meeting but would get all the questions on the written review right.

I am new here as well and even though I haven't been a witness in 11 years this place has been great in seeing that there are other people out there that have gone through or are going through similar things.

This is so wrong !!!!!!!
by lola28 inmy god i can't believe what i just saw.. i was on the website for my local police dept.
and saw a link they had for a website that listed sex offenders.
i clicked on it and put in my zip code, i could not believe how many sex offenders live in my area, what is worse is that i know two of those listed and i never, ever would have thought that they could be a danger to children.. what bothers me so much is that many of these offenders commited crimes against children, i would say that a good 90% of those listed had been convicted of molesting children.how do these people live knowing what they have done?

I'm a pretty liberal guy but I don't mind the death penalty either for child rapist. I checked that site as well and there is only about 4 that I saw in this town, it's not like they would be missed.

What silly rules did your congregation make up?
by weinermcgee inelders were famous for making up stupid rules with no bible base at all as an ego trip i guess, what were some of yours?
i am not talking about the stupid rules that we all had to follow, just the congregation specific silly ones.. 1. having to button your jacket while on stage (this was later changed due to all the elders having a beer gut).
2. suits only or no privledges.

The sun, moon or stars are used in astrology and we can't have anything associated with that.

Sounds like a rockin' good time. Wish I was there singing the one with the lyrics, "Jehovah you are so good, you are so really, really good." I miss that song.

A couple of weeks ago I was driving with some friends listening to the Waylon Jennings version of MacArthur Park. That some funny stuff. What we found out is, keep the food underneath an awning or something because it might rain and get the food wet and whatever you do, DO NOT give Waylon the recipe to the cake because the bastard is only gonna lose it.

I feel for you. I always heard those "experiences" of people out in service that called on people that had just been praying for a sign or the pioneer that prays for something and finds it the road out in service. I took a psychology class a few years ago and we talked about the likelyhood of random things happening(like someone calling you that you were just thinking about), it's really not as rare as one would think. I would recommend looking into that.

One did NOT say that you were having a party. The appropriate term was "gathering".
There was a CO that wouldn't assign sisters to a car for field service if their hair wasn't completely dry yet.

I wouldn't seek out and pay someone for a reading but if someone offered, sure. I own one set, when I was buying anything by H.R.Giger, I bought his set because of the art.
