i got into a discussion with a relative yesterday about 1914 and how the wts calculates the date.
an obvious discrepency is their use of the year 607bc as the date for the destruction of jerusalem.
as far as i know the wts is the only group that uses that date as opposed to the rcognised date 587. according to my aunt 607bc must be the correct date in order for the 70 yeara of slavery prophesy to work out correctly.
There is tons of research on this and you would do good to grab some coffee and get on "the Google".Pay attention to the research that questions" the 70 year prophecy" as I think you will find it interesting.

the calendar of jehovah god1935 saw the brief attempt by jehovah's witnesses to jettison the gregorian calendar and substitute a new one which the golden age magazine called "the calendar of jehovah god.
the 1935 yearbook published an advance copy of the new calendar and it was mentioned in the march 1, 1935 watchtower.
the series appeared in 3 golden age issues in march and april.

P.S, Try to have fun. It is so much more enjoyable to have the freedom to explore all possibilities. Don't try to figure it all out all over again. The best lesson I learned from being in and then leaving the WTS is that no one knows the truth and better men than me have been trying to find it ever since man began to think.

makes no sense at all.. where did jesus say in the bible that in 1935 heavens doors would be closed.. with the governing body all dying off, soon the whole governing body will be replacements !

often, the jw's use this term to describe people of other religions.. i told this to my mom today, and she couldn't get over their arrogance.
many people believe in god and are active in their religion, and this term that the jw's use is a huge lack of respect for others.. so, what is it exactly that other religions should believe?.

I thought I checked once and the Greek for "in the Lord" is the same as "in union with the Lord". The WTS has stated many times that only the annointed are "in union with the lord". So if its the same as "in the Lord" wouldn't that mean,according to 1 Corinthians 7:39, that a believer could only marry an annointed person?

a jw and his wife have been coming by every week.
i started out from the get-go saying that i would listen because i had an interest in all religions and would like to learn the jw beliefs just to know that they believe.
this is a very good learning experience because it makes me evaluate what i believe and why i believe it.
Why are other religions false when they teach things that are not true but you are not false for teaching things that are not true, you are just getting new light. Have some of their false teachings ready like armageddon in 1914 etc.
