  Adam 4000 BC or 5500 BC?

  the wts always propagates the idea that adam was created around 4000 bc and thus the world is 6000 years old and based on this they had set up the 1975 armageddon fiasco where many dubs got ripped off.

  what they never say is that this dating is based on the hebrew masoretic text, there is however an older version of the old testament "the greek translation of the seventy" which for all we know may be the correct one and which makes mankind 7500 years old with adam created around 5500 bc.

  not only this agrees better agrees with archaeological discoveries but it was also used by luke to write jesus's genealogy in his gospel.

  Under74: Reading "how to overcome" is of course another thing than actually doing it: optimal living after an upbringing in the Borg.

  jgnat: That is indeed a book to consider. Thank you.

  Check_Your_Premises/All: I want to learn for myself. I think i could learn in enjoying life and taking responsabilities without suffering. I was in from age 3 till 16/1974. I think i tend to seriousity and the role of victim. But i also think i underestimate myself and my capabilities.

  Lady Lee: Wow! That is a huge and complete list. Now i dare you: Which 3 books do you recommend? And which book do you consider the most complete on the issue?

  Which aspect of JWs would you like to see a documentary about?

  if you had a chance to make a documentary about some aspect of the jws, what would ou choose?

  would you talk about shunning, the blood issue, explain how its a cult, or what?

  unfortunately this would only be for an 8 minute segment on a current affairs programme so i need something that'll get peoples attention and make them think without having to go too deep into the subject.. what would you choose to talk about?.

  i know this is a gloomy topic but have any of you picked a song that you would liked played at your funeral.. i want james blunts new song "goodbye my lover" i heard it for the first time yesterday and cried never had that happend before.

  i have been reading wt quotes etc, but i have not seen this issue raised.

  i dont have a big box of awakes to search through, but i distinctly remember the cover of an awake with a picture of the globe and factories producing smog.

  well the mag was about pollution; the core message/prophecy was that the world will mot be survivable in 10 -12 years so we can expect god to step in the next few years.

  On this planet there have been many "catastrophies", like impacts of huge meteores, extreme climate conditions, earthquakes, disease-outbreaks, ... that ended many lives and extinction. The fittest survived. Some species live under very extreme conditions, like in deep sea, with the warmth of the earthcore as source of energy, or a chemical reaction with sulfur as a source (hence the association of underworld with sulfur?). Mankind has a lot of potential: polluting and become extinct is one, polluting air and selling eachother fresh oxygen might even be another.

  Future is our fantasy, the now our everlasting perception and the past our memories influencing the first two.
