What our hearts know is in store
by Frogleg inimagine that you have walked into a travel agency (yes, i know, an archaic concept) that has advertised a "surprise" trip.
they have told you that this excursion will go somewhere pleasant and enjoyable, but it doesn't mention exactly where you will be going.
however, they tell you to pack a lot of suntan lotion (min:spf 40), towels, swimming togs, and they want to make sure you know how to use an aqualung.

Parable of the Talents
by Frogleg inalthough it may seem as if a horse is being beaten to death here, i have a question in reference to the "parable of the talents".
matt 25:14 is where it starts.
this particular story is often used by the borg to justify their insistence on field service, and each time i've read it and each time it was read to me, i always came away unsure as to the accuracy of the borg's interpretation.

Have we just given up
by Frogleg inif i speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, i am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
if i have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if i have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, i am nothing.
if i give all i possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, i gain nothing.. love is patient, love is kind.

Recent Catastrophies
by Frogleg init doesn't seem to matter what you know, or don't know, hearing about a sudden, seemingly linked catastrophies always makes me feel kind of spooky.
i ran across this piece that touches on the subject and it seemed to bring all of the recent happenings into a bit more of a perspective.
i especially liked the near-limerick at the end.
