i was thinking that since most of you have experianced shunning due to disfelowshiping or disassociation, that you might have some ideas adn scriptures to show how df and da shunning is unscriptural.
the elders were gracious enough to provide my wife with a packet to show how df'ng is scriptural and gag loving.. sean.
Just ask them to name one person that Jesus disfellowshipped. Instead, he said to love your enemies, and pray for those persecuting you.

this 'log' is fairly recent, and some may not have 'stumbled' upon it.
this time, in my searches, i entered 'watch tower' instead of 'watchtower'.
this is just one of many hits i've not witnessed as of yet: .
Today's JWs may not be interested in Russell, but that may not be the point. There were two "holding companies"....follow the money... Are these holding companies still in existence today? Where are the assets, and who has control of them? Have they been used to siphon off money and property...and who benefits?? Who controls this thing?? I wish I had the time and resources to research this. I have this gut feeling that there is something more going on here than any of us know. What kind of a religion has shareholders, and a hundred corporations to hide behind??

marilyn (from the why-1914 helpline) made it through her quadruple bypass surgery and is doing well.
i just talked to her nurse.
thanks for your prayers.. cb
If you want to wish Marilyn a speedy recovery, just comment here. I will print it out and send it to her. I know she will enjoy it. She doesn't have a computer, so that's the next best thing.

i've just registered on this site.
i'd like to kick off by asking this wealth of experience what your most successful witnessing to witnesses tips are.
so if you're a non-and-has-never-been-a-jw, what stops them in their tracks?
Ask: If you had to make a choice between your relationship with God, and your organization, which would you chose?
If they say God, ask: How would members of your organization treat you if you made that choice? Would they respect you for it? Shun you? What does that say about your organization?
Keep it simple, and don't use words or expressions like "the truth" Keep them on topic, and don't let them hijack the subject. They will change the subject when they don't know an answer, or are uncomfortable. Don't let it become a drawn out conversation. You want to make a point, and let it sink in. Give them something to think about. Let them know you will be glad to discuss it further at a later date. Don't put them on the defensive. This will work against you. Be kind, and don't try to embarrass them.

Just talked to her. She sounds really good. Her dr. said she has a very strong heart and she has a better than 90% chance of survival. She joked with him, and asked that he use copper tubing so it will last a long time. She asks that we keep her in our prayers.

Two JWs came to my door a number of years ago just when there was an article on the "glorious ones". I had read that magazine a couple of days before. For once I had perfect timing.
They presented me with the magazines, and I said "Can I show you something in there"? She said "Sure" and handed me the Watchtower. I said, "Before I show you this, can I ask you a question?" "Sure" she said. I asked " Who do you give glory to?" She said " Jehovah God" I opened the Watchtower, and asked "Then why would your organization say you must give glory to these men?", and pointed to where it said they must give glory to the elders. She was obviously new, and her eyes nearly bugged out of her head. She stuttered and stammered, and said "I don't know" I told her maybe she needed to look into that. Her partner jumped in and tried to say it's not like that. I just asked her why her magazine would say such a thing then. It happened so fast that they had no time to rationalize it or put up any kind of defense. It gave them something to think about.
You can't give them too much info to deal with at once, because the wall goes up. A simple question that gives them pause works best. The object is to turn on the thinking process and get them off of auto pilot.

i think the strangest experience i had on the ministry was when i spoke to a witch and she said she knew i was a jw and that the devil told her all the details of armaggeddon, etc.
it was so funny lol.
also i remember someone telling me that all of a sudden they became ill and when trying to go through the congregation door they just couldnt get through because a force was stopping them, so what then happened was that the elders asked her if anyone had given her anything so she said then recalled bying something seond hand, so guess what she realised this gold ring she bought might have been owned by someone demonised so she got rid of it and then her ilness went and she could get through the congregation door, how mad is that .
We were doing some rural territory one summer in Vermont. I was with my mother at the door, and a bird landed right on the top of her head. It just sat there. My mother's eyes got so huge. She didn't dare move. The lady of the house laughed so hard...said it she fed the birds, and this one kind of adopted her. The bird eventually flew away, and my mother finished her presentation. She said after the initial shock, she was just worried that the bird would leave something in her hair. It didn't. I'll never forget the look on her face though.
