...into my own past which i never knew.
yes, i have just arrived in north east america, and in about an hour and half i will meet my great-aunt, my mother's aunt, who knew my mother well.
she broke the news to my mother, just 8 days after i was born, that her own mother (my mother's mother) had died.

i just had a flashback that reminded me of one of the only times i saw my elder-father somewhat "fed up" with his fellow brethren.
once upon a time, my father had some sort of first-aid badge from his workplace.
he was assigned the task of managing the first ais station at the circuit assembly.
We actually had a doctor (well, and eye doctor) in our congregation. He always worked in the first aid department at assemblies. When I was 4 at a district assembly I was sucking on a lollypop and it came off the stick and lodged in my throat. I couldn't breathe and my mom rushed me to the first aid dept. They managed to remove the lollypop and I was fine. (no more lollypops for me...ever) My mom was a basketcase though, and they had to give her something to calm her. I have no idea what they gave her...it was back in the '50s...

rwagner's post go me thinking.
are any of your ancestors famous?
the only famous one i can think of is sir robert peel, i'm not too sure what he did.
On my mother's side we can trace ancestors who came over on the Mayflower. On my dad's side there's an interesting story. Napoleon supposedly found an infant on the battlefield, and turned it over to a family to raise. We are decended from that baby who was raised in Sweden. All of his other ancestors were from Sweden. My Swedish grandparents came to the US shortly after the turn of the century.
No famous blood though....

transplants ?
cannibalism
many opponents of the wtbts have published information saying that the wts forbade organ transplants, and the reason given was that the wts said it was equal to cannibalism.
Mary,
He doesn't answer because he can't. There is no justifying it, and I think deep down he knows it. His silence says volumes.

JWBen,
One question. If it truly was a matter of conscience, then why didn't they state that in the early articles. They could have. That would have been the logical thing to do. They waited over a decade....until people had died because of the policy before finally stating it in clear terms. Why?

JW Ben,
It's very easy for you to say it was a conscience matter when you haven't had to live with the consequences of the death of a loved one because of such a policy . I lived it...and still feel the loss. You may have interpreted the society's position to mean it was a matter of conscience, but you never had to make that life and death decision yourself. My parents did. My parents made the decision based on the watchtower teachings. I was there. I know what influenced their decision, and they didn't make that decision in a vacuum. My parents were not the only ones who made such a decision. Others have died as a result of this fiasco. And then the society changed it without even acknowledging the damage they caused. Shame on them.
Rabbit,
Thank you....and I'm sorry for your loss as well... The governing body of the watchtower society has a lot to answer for, They will one day stand before their maker. I would not want to be in their shoes.

for me it's "the doors of the ark are closing.
i can never forget as a child, being forced to see the graphic images in the publications showing families, mothers with little babies clinging to a rock and others drowning as the ark floats away.
fathers shaking their fists at god for destroying their families... it's like some of the little mind control still functioning in there somewhere causing a kneejerk reaction of uneasiness.... are there any others that bug you?.
"ones"...as in baptized ones or lowly ones....
"away back then"...
Does anyone remember when they tried to introduce the term "rendezvous for field service"? That was the one time I witnessed a refusal to adopt "watchtower speak". My mom refused to use it...saying it sounded like we were trying to be spies.

...at least according to this group of ex-jw's...... "as members of the y.o.r.w.w.
congregation, we believe and teach jehovah's witnesses are god's name people, established as such in 1931, when they took the divine name upon themselves, thus starting what historians and theologians say was the beginning of the "divine name movement" of our time.
and as such, they have become modern day "israel" of bible prophecy.
I think it sounds like a reshuffled version of the group TWMC (Two Witnesses must come) that started in the early 90s and produced something called "The Report" They claimed to be the two witnesses of Revelation. Believed most of the JW teachings, but attempted to expose the corruption....
It is amazing to me how many splinter groups have started from a religion that is not much more than 100 years old.

Imagine what these parents will feel when they realize that they have been duped! What an awful price to pay for obeying the dictates of a publishing company. An innocent life stolen.
How is it that the "symbol of life" is more important than the life?

how would you go back?
go to the elders and say i repent and know i'm was wrong.
i want to work towards getting reinstated?
Although I was a third generation JW, all of my JW family has died. So, there is nothing to pull me back. I also have a wonderful circle of friends and my children and grandchildren on the outside...so life is great.
Spiritually, they have nothing to offer. I have a personal relationship with God, and I worship frequently with other believers. The Watchtower is a publishing company that controls the lives of millions of people. I count myself blessed that I am no longer controlled by them.
They are the blind leading the blind....why follow them?
