what is your response to the claim that the truth would divide families?.

hey guys, i found the following to be quite interesting, they have some great links to jw literature, maybe this will help the lurkers to see that the house to house preaching waste of time, is pretty redundant as many religious people are now wise to the fallacy of the borg.
what to you guys think?.

Robdar,
Fanatics can be found in any belief system...(not just Christian & Muslim) and that is where the danger lies. Some groups are able to exploit this with horrible results. It seems to be happening within the Muslim community on a larger scale than anywhere else in the world. I don't deny that there have been some Christians who have done some terrible things in the name of religion. The difference I see is that Fundamentalist Muslims are taught to hate. They don't seem to have much respect for the value of human life. Christians are taught the love of Christ. (some don't get it., i know..but I think most do)
I won't attempt to convince you that there is a difference. You have made up your mind, and you are entitled to your opinion.

yeah, Robdar...Pat Robertson does say some pretty dumb things....but I don't think you need to worry that he will be organizing any suicide bombers or beheadings any time soon.

Nothing like the pot calling the kettle black....two of a kind....both cults....and neither can see it in themselves, but can see it in others

a lot of people are worrying about these uprisings, riots and violence being done----it seems everywhere.
i've read how some feel that europe does not have the ability as a union to fight against this.
is this like it was in germany prior to ww!!
If the Islamic Fundamentalists had nuclear weapons they would not hesitate for a second to use them. We have no choice but to prevent that from happening. If we wait too long, we're toast. They HATE anyone who does not believe as they do, and believe they are given a mandate by allah to kill us all. They have no respect for human life or the rights and beliefs of others. They are in a cult far worse than the watchtower. You cannot reason them out of their belief system. They are beyond that. I wonder why the main stream Moslems do not speak out (in any meaningful way) against the behavior of thier more radical fellow believers. I am a news junkie...I listen/watch news constantly and have heard virtually nothing from the Muslim community that condemns the horrific things they have done. The hateful teachings that spark the violence need to be exposed. These poor deluded people are programmed to hate from an early age. They are being exploited by an evil cult as pawns in a plan to dominate the world. They will use any means at their disposal to do this.
I respect the beliefs of others...but I draw the line when that belief involves killing people who don't believe as they do.

BTW, if a child is not old enough to choose to get married, drive, or drive alcoholic beverages
I'm still too young to drive alcoholic beverages...

Ah, Danny you really need try a little harder to take the rose colored glasses off....
Infant baptism? I was baptized at 8 years old. My friends in the congregation were baptized from age 10-12. A child of that age, whatever the level of understanding, is not mature enough to make a decision of that nature that will effect the rest of their lives. How old was Jesus when he was baptized? Ummmmmm.....30!
Contributions? Be honest, Danny....they spend a lot of time talking about money....how to leave your estate to the organization... etc/ As far as the contribution box that is in the back of every Kingdom Hall... it is just as visible...people see you put money in... My ex would always put a check in (instead of cash) so he could take the tax deduction.
About people being nicer outside the organization... You are told when you're inside that everyone outside is of the devil. That is definitely not true. Sure, there are many nice people in the organization....but their view of the world is warped. Some of the kindest warmest most generous people I have ever known were never jws.
*** I'll add another.... condemning other religious organizations for the money they have, while sitting on top of a multi-billion dollar real estate empire, not to mention their income.
(Not to hijack the thread...but in the thread about Watchtower control, I added quotes about not marrying or having children...didn't know if you saw them, since you wanted to see some references)

leaving the organization, it is like packing for a journey you can choose what you take with you, and what you leave behind (other than people).
there are things i chose to take with me.
for example, i have used the sales training to my advantage over the years.
BizzyBee (love the name)
You're probably right...but I never had the fear of going door to door...or public speaking or sales because I started at age 4... so it was part of me growing up.
