They have flip flopped back and forth over the years over Abaddon being Satan or Jesus. I think it is rediculous that an organization claiming to be the only true Christians on earth doesn't know the difference between Satan & Jesus.

Revelation chapter 9
by NowImFree ini have been researching revelation 9 and have recently come to the realization that the jws are claiming in their own literature that they themselves are the locust horde coming out of the abyss spoken of in revelation 9 and they are also claiming that their king is abaddon the king of the abyss who they say is jesus.
in their old literature they used to say the abaddon is satan and now they have done a flip flop and say he is jesus!
this is just amazing to me that they would say this.

Have I changed?
by I-follow-the-narrow-path inyesterday my ex-boyfriend came into town, several months ago who moved away and we had to break off our relationship.
the relationship was rocky; however, before he was going to move, so it was easy to let him go.
we reconciled as he was away and we are good friends.

You are confusing a relationship with Jehovah with that of a relationship with an organization. A relationship with God is one-on-one. There is no middle man. When you stand before God you stand as an individual, not a group. You will not be able to hide behind the skirts of the watchtower. God is not impressed by what you know...or what you think you know. The organization cannot give you a relationship with God, nor can they take it away.
Pushing the watchtower's version of "truth" down someone's throat is not "spreading the good news". If I was your boyfriend I'd tell you that you are in a cult....and then I'd run for my life.
You have no idea what you have become involved with. It is a fraud. It is a false prophet. It is a business pretending to be a religion, and destroying countless lives in the process.
Research this organization before you surrender your life to an organization that will eat you alive. I was in it for 38 years before I realized that I had wasted all those years.... Don't make the same mistake.

reading hellriders topic made me wonder about this.. i waited till i was 21 because i was drinking alcohol as a youth and didn't want to get baptized while breaking the law.

The organization tries to have as much control as possible. They will disfellowship jws for questioning their teachings or authority. That's a whole other subject that could fill many threads. (and has)
What I meant was that if jws are staring out of the windows during a meeting, they are not paying attention. The view out of the windows can be distracting. They want you paying full attention to what is being said from the platform.

Please re-read Sir82's post. He said he's just yanking your chain...he even added a smiley. Witnesses have been asked about this before, and he was just telling you what he's been told about it. The organization never sent out an explanation to the rank and file...so some formed their own conclusions.

Ihaveasavior, There is a large auditorium (and that is what it is called on the Construction Documents) JWs distance themselves from any wording that sounds like a Church. There are no "Worship Services". There are "meetings".

My dad designed many kingdom halls. They all had windows, but were built during the 50s & 60s. There was a rash of vandalizing of kingdom halls, and I remember him talking about new halls being designed without windows. He wasn't happy about it...but then he thought buildings without light were ugly.
Ironically, having left, I now work for one of the largest window companies in the world. I conduct seminars, sanctioned by AIA (with CEU) credit, about glazing systems. Ihaveasavior, you are right that windows contribute to thermal efficiency...but I really don't think that was the issue. My own theory is that windows not only allow light in, but encourage people to look outside...not a good thing when the organization wants full attention...
Ihaveasavior...you sound angry. Most here are xjws...and you will find few here who will defend the organization on this or other issues.

Elder visit - follow up
by flag inwell, i still haven't met with him yet.. i specifically told him to make an appointment first, and that my husband had to be present.. but, what is he doing?
totally the opposite!!!.
he hasn't called to make the appointment, last saturday he sent his wife to knock on my door (which i did not answered), and he showed up yesterday afternoon (without calling first).

The elders do not respect your boundaries. They think they are in control, and that you have no say in the matter. You will have to get very firm. If your husband is not a jw, they do not respect his position...they believe they have more authority than he does...even in your own home.
