  i thought it would be an interesting exercise to ask everybody on here what their 'top 10 reasons why jws don't have the truth' actually were.

  maybe we can see some correlating views/patterns/ideas that may help us de-programme the newbies that come on this site.

  if eventually most people have an outstanding gripe/concern it'll help everybody understand the ex-jw mindset a little better.

  Well, I have to run in a few minutes... so I'll ask the next question now...and see if debator can answer.

  If the wt (then IBS) was chosen to represent God on earth (as they claim) on the basis of what they were teaching at that time, have you (debator) read what was taught at that time? Have you, for example, read the Finished Mystery? Why is it so different from what is taught today by the wt?...if in fact that was the basis on which they were chosen... Why did the wt have the symbol of the Egyptian god RA on the front cover of the most prominent publication of that time? 1918/1919 depending on which modern wt publication you use as reference.

  Alrighty then,

  If Jesus appointed them,, you should be able to point to the organizations/groups that carried that torch through the centuries. Who were they? What was the name of their organization/s or groups. If Jesus did appoint them... what about the millions of people between the time of the apostles...and the time of Russell?

  Edited to add: On what basis did Jesus appoint them? wt says it was on the basis of thier teachings... Do you believe that is true?

  By what authority does the wt speak/publish billions of pages of literature and direct the lives of all of its followers over the course of its existence? Who appointed them to be the fds?

  Ok.. Where in Deut. does it say "false inspired prophet"? It merely says anyone speaking in the name of Jehovah... JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES come in Whose name? What did they name themselves?

  I think it is you who are playing with words....and are ignoring the obvious. The wt wants all of the authority of claiming to be a prophet, but none of the responsibility when nothing they have said happens...

  You are the one using debating tricks. Note: You have not answered a single question I asked... but then, you never do... do you? Is that just a debating trick... or don't you have answers....

  No loaded language here.... the wt is the expert on that.

  We are not debating the requirements to be a prophet but the requirements to be false prophets and the Bible simply says they have to claim inspiration, signs, miracles, anti-christs etc The witnesses have claimed none of these.

  Again the Bible is specific for the requirements of both and trying to muddy the waters by saying that just claiming to be a prophet can make you a false prophet is ridiculous.

  To be a false prophet you have to show specific Bible written requirements for this and the witnesses have shown none of them.

  Yes, and I quoted the requirements in my post. Read Deuteronomy again.... (it's back one page..under the wt page I posted) Nothing about signs miracles etc... just that they come/speak in God's name. Wt does claim to be directed by God. They are, after all, Witness of who? Whose name do they come in? They claim to be Jehovah's orgainzation.. the only one on the planet. Just what do you think inspired means? If God didn't inspire the billions of pages of changing teachings they have published in well over a century.... who did? Imperfect men? If so, why aren't they called Imperfect men's witnesses? At least that would be accurate... and honest!

  Bottom line... jws claim to be a prophet. Do you disagree with that claim?

  They claim to be the only channel of communication of God. Do you disagree with that? Who are they communicating with?

  They claim that only through associating with them can you have a relationship with God Do you agree with that claim?

  Not one thing that they have prophecied has happened...ever... not one. What kind of prophet does that make them....a true one or a false one?

  It is ironic that in the above article the wt warned about the United Nations as a counterfeit of God's Kingdom. On another thread, debator defends the wt's association with the UN as an NGO.

  Ah the verbal webs he/she weaves... kinda makes me dizzy...

  Witnesses are false prophets only in the eyes of people that totally ignore what the bible actually says concerning false prophets. I always find this argument one of the most dishonest from ex-Jws. Some arguments like the UN one are just desperation but this one is frankly dishonest.

  And yet the wt itself claims that they are prophets. I guess they are dishonest by your standards.... that's ok...they are dishonest by my standards too.

  

  ....and not a single thing they have prophecied...in over 100 years of thier existence has come to pass.....not one.

  Deuteronomy 18:

  17 The LORD said to me: "What they say is good. 18 I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him. 19 If anyone does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name, I myself will call him to account. 20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death."

  21 You may say to yourselves, "How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD ?" 22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.

  Outlaw... they didn't need it... but that's thier story, and they are stickin to it!

  According to this document which references 2009, the UN still requires the NGO to support and respect its charter. There are further qualifications for this alliance... interesting. So much for the splitting hairs of the huge differences between supporting and sharing/ ideals/principals debate. LOL

  They weren't "part" of the UN.

  Yes they were. They were part of the DPI, which is part of the UN. If you work for a department of a company, you still work for the company. An NGO is a Non Governmental Organization....a member of the UN that is not a government. The wt alligned themselves with the UN for thier own benefit... to use the influence of the UN as leverage in countries they were/are having trouble.... the library card was just a rediculous cover. I don't know anyone who ever really bought that.

  You are delusional... I still dare you to ask an active jw if they share the ideals of the UN. I'd buy tickets to that. Would love to see the look on thier face!
