I read it ages ago. I couldn't put it down...finished in less than 2 days. My issue was that there was no way anyone could have done all they did, and traveled as they did in that short amount of time.

My son is working on a family history. This part of it goes back to Stephen Hopkins (who came over on the Mayflower, and signed the Mayflower Compact) This would be from my mother's side. So my g-grandmother was Mary...there are more interesting names the further back you go. He's also working on my Dad's side...but there's a language barrier...his parents were from Sweden.

dear friends,.
as you may know, the watchtower society takes great pride in its district conventions.
please contact me if you can attend any of these protests.. there is no reason why every district convention in the world could not have a protest and receive media coverage to expose the watchtower society.
Lilly,
Shunnedfather is the name Lawrence Hughes used to post under. You can go to members and find the posts.

Mary.... loved the coffee analogy
I remember seeing picketers at the assemblies when I was a jw too. I remember thinking they were working for satan. I don't know of a single person who got out of the borg because of a picketer. They get out when they are ready to examine their beliefs, and not a moment before...and definitely not because someone holds up a sign or yells at them.
When I was manning the 800-why-1914 helpline, I once had a call from a jw who attended an assembly in CA that was picketed by xyws. Someone had put the helpline number on a sign. She screamed at me and told me that she had seen me picketing...even told me what I was wearing... and proceeded to tell me that I was nuts. Funny thing...I hadn't ever picketed in my life...and I was in Florida at the time, 3000 miles away. She didn't believe me, of course, and continued to be abusive until I finally hung up. My take away from that experience is that all xjws can be dumped on because of the careless actions of others. Whoever put the help line number on a sign didn't have permission to do so. BRCI doesn't want to be associated with protesting.
I have picketed once in my life... the Silent Lambs march on Brooklyn. I wouldn't do it again. I don't believe it is effective. The average jw will not pay a bit of attention...and if they do, they will just think you are crazy or demonized. That does nothing to help them see the truth about the truth. It just pushes them further away.

Sorry you are upset over my post. I think some of the comments made about Lawrence wanting to protest were unkind and hitting him below the belt. This man lost a beautiful fourteen year old daughter due to the blood policies of the Watchtower Org. Rather then condemn and undermine his objective, members of this board should be offering encouragement and rooting him on.
Once again you miss the point. It is you who I and others are speaking out against. You are trying once again to hitch your wagon to Lawrence's star and get attention for yourself. It is not just one post of yours that I have read and am disgusted by. It is your behavior on this forum... against anyone who disagrees with you. Count me as one who disagrees with you and is disgusted by your behavior.
Lawrence if you are reading this, be careful. Do not allow Rick to hijack you into promoting his website or conference call. He has lost all crediblity.
For once, Rick, look in the mirror at what you have become! It is nothing to be proud of.

Oh... and I have never been in hiding. I have nothing to lose. My family is out....or dead. I do not judge others who stand to lose everything by revealing their identity. I have compassion for them... you have no right to judge them either. You were once a dub too...in fact, you still act like one.
ok, i'm one.

mine was terrific.
loving visits, cards, dinner, and togetherness.
i know if i had remained a witness, at least one of my children would have left the borg, and we would probably not have the beautiful relationship we now have.
Thanks, Mary!

It was lovely!
My kids are far away... in Virginia and Florida...so I didn't get to see them, but I did get to talk to them. My daughter's health is improving, so that in itself, made my day. Her kids gave her a great Mother's day too... Breakfast in bed, a pedicure...made dinner for her and hung out all day.
My daughter posted something very special on my facebook page too...
Still smiling...
