after reading raymond franz's book crisis of conscience, it occurred to me how valuable a packet of only wt publications containing the truth about the truth would be.
many we want to reach of our loved ones would never believe something online or in a book.
but if you could order or download a packet made just of wt publications, you could reach them maybe.
I had a set of Studies in the scriptures embossed in gold with the winged sphere on the cover. I had a book on Egyptian History which had pictures of the winged sphere, identifying it as the sun god RA.
I put them side by side and showed my x husband. He got up off his chair and literally ran out the door.
If it wasn't so sad, it would be funny.

Most jws won't believe photo copies. Even originals pose problems. The elders I met with would not even touch the photo copies I made for them... nor would they touch the original books I brought with me. I had original books going back to the turn of the 20th century.

i ask a question on my other post but i think it got lost.
what is wt policy on what is approprate way of handling a person that is deceased ashes?
the reason why i ask is because we are having a family disagreement of how to handle my fathers ashes..
Get this... When my mom died of a very rare form of cancer, the hospital requested an autopsy to study the rare form of cancer. My aunt, a lifelong jw and widow of a zone servant.... said this was not allowed by the society because it was mutilating the body.
This same aunt left instructions to be cremated when she died...and she was.
At the time, I did not see anything crazy with this....
Now... I'm just shaking my head.....

every once in a while it really hits me that he is no longer here to talk to.
unlike most of you, i wouldnt have been afraid to approach him with questions or doubts.
I remember one time at an assembly, a sister from our cong. (wife of a committee member...before there were "elders") came up to me and criticized my hair, saying that I looked worldly. I was about 17 at the time. I was wearing it up. She upset me, so I went to my dad. He marched right up to her with me...and told her that she was not a spiritual policewoman, and that going forward, if she had anything to say about me, she was to go to him. Then he told her.... I think she looks beautiful...there is nothing worldly about the way she looks.
When I was in college, the CO demanded that my dad step down from his position. My dad said no. He asked the CO to show him a scripture that forbade education. Of course, the CO couldn't. My dad went on to say that Jesus himself was 30 years old when he began his ministry. Up until that time, as was the custom, he was learning his trade. He then said...my daughter is 17 years old. I think that if the son of God continued his education unitil he was 30, then my daughter has plenty of time to complete her education. The CO dropped it. Dad kept his position.
He always had my back.

I had great parents...in spite of the fact that they were jws. They were not like any jws I ever knew. The only negative thing I can say about them is that they were overprotective. I was an only child...and they tried to have more...but I had one brother who only lived a day and a half, and mom had numerous miscarriages. They taught me that education is very important. They taught me to be independent. they made me feel secure. They supported my talents with classes and supplies. The taught me the love of reading. They taught me how to question.
They were always there when I needed them..without fail.... If I called dad at work, he would stop what he was doing to talk to me.
Sorry to hijack....wanted to include dad as well. They were exceptional...and I miss them every day.

I said the following to the 2 elders that met with me.
Truth doesn't change. If it has to change, then it wasn't true to begin with. If it wasn't true to begin with, then it did not come from God. If it did not come from God....then where did it come from?
You should have seen the looks on their faces. Priceless.
