I may go to the kh to hear it myself...I want to make sure I go on the right date though....can't stomach more than 1 visit. Does anyone know when they will cover that article?

if all of the men on the gb were born into or raised within the wts walls, it can pretty much means they have been insulated from the real world.
other than the lawyers (who else would have a lot of experience living in the real world?
) who else would be directing what gets printed or not?
I've thought this to be the case for some time now.

leaving the organization, it is like packing for a journey you can choose what you take with you, and what you leave behind (other than people).
there are things i chose to take with me.
for example, i have used the sales training to my advantage over the years.
Thanks for all the responses. I have a healthy dose of skepticism too... I left my naivite inside the kingdom hall.
Lady Lee, I took my kids with me too...and I'm soooo grateful for that. I used to get nervous before giving talks at the kh. I think part of that was that you had to be so careful that you said the right words...and there were always the copious notes camoflaged in the Bible so no one would see. Everyone was judging you in so many ways. It was no wonder we got nervous.
I give hour long presentations now for my job with no notes whatsoever, and I don't get the least bit nervous. I actually think it's fun.

i never thought i would do one of those infamous goodbye i cant take this board anymore posts where the person shows up again a week later and looks like an idiot.
when i had enough of this board and needed a little break i would just quietly leave for a few months and hopefully nobody noticed.
that is not the case this time.

You are one of my favorite posters...intelligent, balanced, talented, and sometimes you even make me laugh. Don't give up on yourself... I'll keep hoping to see more of your posts. Please take care.. I didn't know about the ms... you ARE VERY good at hiding things.

hope you are all well.. if you have been following the soap-opera of my life and the letter i wrote my dad then you may be interested in the latest.. my dad has been here visiting and we had a good long talk yesterday about my letter and what has brought me to the decision to leave the org.
he listened to everything i had to say and agreed with everything i had to say.
his own doubts arose when he became an elder and got a clearer picture of the abusive tactics that are used on the sheep.
Freedomlover I am soooooooo happy for you! Your dad sounds like such a wonderful person.

There are things I chose to take with me. For example, I have used the sales “training” to my advantage over the years. The job I have now involves public speaking. I call on architects, promote our company and teach continuing education seminars for which they receive credit. When I was interviewing for this job, I was asked if I was “intimidated by architects.” (They tend to ask a lot of technical questions) I answered without even thinking. Citing my jw background I said.... no…I made my first cold call at 4 years old, selling religion from door to door. After that…what are a couple of architects? They were dumbfounded by the answer. It worked. I got the job.
Is there anything you have taken with you on your journey?

i'm so frustrated with the challenges associated with "spreading the bad news about jehovah's witnesses" i find when i debate with a jw in the company of "civilians" (people who know nothing of jw's) they come off smelling like a rose and i seem like a disgruntled nut.. just needed to vent!.

I agree it's abslolutely worth it...but it is very frustrating. It's best to keep it simple and not give too much information at one time...they tend to tune you out if you give them too much to process..

within the great apes the male is always dominant.
as they are the highest on the evolutionary track next to man i think it proves that males are supposed to dominate women in all aspects of life.
Men are more rational and impersonal and women are more emotional and personal
I think that's what we're led to believe, but I don't think it jives with reality. Men are very emotional...they are just not allowed to express it. The vast majority of violent crimes are committed by men....violence is emotion that is out of control. Women are allowed to vent in smaller doses, kind of like a safety valve....so are not so explosive in their expression. The careers that require emotional expression...such as a syphony conductor or composer... are dominated by men. The greatest artists in history were men...again...a profession that requires emotional expression.
Men...rational? I think that depends on the man. I know some...but would not consider men more rational than women on the whole. I've known many rational men and rational women. I've also known many irrational people of both sexes.
Ok...gotta run...going to dinner now...

Debating with a Witness is like being in a pissing contest with a skunk.
