I shouldn't have used the sarcasm tag - sorry. My point is that the "news" is pretty biased no matter where it comes from. The BBC, CNN, Fox, CBS, and everybody else made that apparent in their coverage of the disaster in New Orleans.

Aljazeera skewing the news again
by Elsewhere inthis morning it was all over cnn about how the us intercepted a letter from al-zawahiri (al-qaida's #2) addressed to al-zarqawi (al-qaida in iraq).. in this letter he said:funds are drying up, and actually asked the al-qaida members in iraq to send money.
al-qaida has lost many of its key leaders.he is resigned to defeat in afghanistan.complained that the al-qaida activity in iraq that is killing iraqi civilians will likely alienate the "muslim masses".. basically the letter talked about how bad things are for al-qaida.. i went to the aljazeera web site to see their spin on it.
what i found was nothing.

Renting movies, did you really chose what was OK for Christians to watch?
by JH in.
i remember at the hall, there was a speech where the brother said that 90% of movies weren't for christians.
the way he talked, about 90% of movies had sex in it or violence or anything that christians shouldn't watch.. funny thing is that every time i was invited to watch a movie with the jw's, there was plenty of violence in the movie they chose, and it didn't seem to bother them whatsovever.. gee, i rented lots of movies with sex and violence, and it didn't bother me at all.

I always thought it was interesting that "Christians" would put up with tons of violence in their entertainment but one visible nipple and, ohh shit. They couldn't put up with any nudity.

What stages of Healing/Recovery have you or are you going through?
by diamondblue1974 in.
to elaborate...we are all at and have been at varying stages of the healing/recovery process...what stages have you experienced...how did you deal with it and what are your plans for the future now you are on this path.. db74

I would be hard-pressed to label specific stages. I would say for the first couple of years I was mostly confused, followed by a couple of years of anger, followed by a couple years of shame and depression. After that, I don't know. It has been fifteen years since I left and until very recently I haven't been able to talk about it.

worldly, ex dub or current dub?
by pratt1 in.
for those of you in a serious relationship, is your partner "worldly", an ex dub, or a current dub?.
my wife is an ex dub like me.. it certainly helps that she understands why i am the way i am, and the actions of her in - laws.. what about you?

My wife studied with the witnesses off and on both before and after we got together. She (wisely) never let it go any further than that. I always told her that if that is what she wanted I wouldn't stand in her way but thankfully, she decided it wasn't for her.

Back in the pioneer days, I knew an auxiliary pioneer who was the poster boy for gluttony. I'll never forget going to get pizza with him and his family. He would order two large pies - one for him and one for his wife and kids. If we went to a buffet- he would eat heaping piles of food. The guy could really put it away. If that wasn't bad enough, he was also a trekkie. He is an elder now living on disability (that he richly does not deserve).

From Jw to born again .................
by vitty inwhen i was "in" the borg ( i love that word) i really , really believed that when ppl left it, they became like the undead.
with no direction in life and no religion, i felt sorry for them.. i never thought that they became ............born again or heaven forbid catholic !!!!!!.
when i first started looking at sites on the internet i came across www.jwinfoline.com what an eye opener !

I don't have a hard time believing that many ex-jws go on to find other equally ridiculous beliefs. These people are optimists - maybe being a witness didn't scratch the itch but becoming a different brand of fundamentalist whackjob might do it.
