Women are only good at....

our hall is being remodelded, so last night during the announcements, the brother said, "we need as many brothers as we can get to help with doing the work this weekend..." then he has the sheer audacity to say, "and we will also need some sisters to clean up the mess afterwards.

Then he has the sheer audacity to say, "And we will also need some SISTERS to clean up the mess afterwards." Do you have any idea how pissed off i was? That just infuriated me. I leaned over and loudly whispered to my mom, "You know, we can do more than clean!" UGH! I was just absolutely disgusted. I mean, I know women are the "weaker vessel" and all that crap, but sometimes we like knocking holes in walls just as much as the guys do... Anyhow, we've got some pretty scrawny guys, and if I do say so myself, I could probably take them on! But too late. See if I go help them now.... If they think it's all I can do, I REFUSE TO CLEAN!

I vacation there in the summer.... Love the area. We stay at Goose Rocks Beach.
Zanex - Cape Elizabeth is amazing.... That littel seafood shack right by the lighthouse, with all the waves crashing on the rocks... And those lobster rolls are just to die for!!! Oh, I can't wait for the summer!

Memorial - Suburban, PA Style

of my congregation had 'we thank you, jehovah' playing faintly in the background while the emblems were being rejected...er...passed around.. does anyone else know of someone who delivers (delivered) the memorial talk who adds (added) their own tradition into the mix?.
oh, i almost forgot...a young girl (a little over one year old) attended her first memorial.

ohhhh yeah.... suburban PA is the best! haha.
The elder at our hall who said the prayer before we passed the bread forgot to say amen, so the whole congregation didn't say "amen." does that count then?
Also, there was a little boy sitting next to me (about 3 years old) and right after the talk began, he whispered to his mom, "I don't like this mommy, can we go home?" It was cute....
But in response to your question, no, no elders have started new trends...

JW's Not The Only Ones Persecuted
by Mister Biggs inthe jw higher-ups are publicly crying over the beatings that the jw's in georgia have been receiving.. if you are an active jw, you would think that only the jw's were being persecuted and that they are fulfilling a prophecy ("they will persecute you if you follow" jesus).

Body piercing?

i personally feel it is a method of self expression.
i mean, i would never go and get everthing possible pierced, but i do have 2 holes in each ear, and a newly acquired belly ring.. i got my belly done 3 weeks ago, on spring break.

Thanks a lot eveyone.... I guess we'll see what happens. I didn't do this to be rebellious or anything, but just because it is something I have always wanted to do. I have two earing holes in each ear, and that has never been mentioned. My mom was a bit reluctant to let me get the second hole (I was 13 though), but I still got it. If anything happens of significance, I'll let you know. However, I am not expecting it to be a huge deal.... I just have to give my mom time to "come to grips with it" as my father so nicely put it :-) My dad asked if my boss had seen it yet. I said yes, and she was a bit funny about it. He said that she probably thinks that they (my parents) are losing control of me then. I responded, "Well, maybe you are...." HA! Anyhow, thanks again for your thoughts.

I got my belly done 3 weeks ago, on spring break. I never told my parents, I just did it. Well, I was going to tell them, but not just yet.... However, as it goes, my mom walked in on me without a shirt on today and, well, to put it lightly, flipped out! She made it a point to say a million times how dissappointed she was. She also made me show my father. My dad seemed a bit disturbed, but accepted it better, as I knew he would. Anyhow, jokingly I told my mom that i did it as a birthday present to myself. She then said, "Oh, I'm sure the elders will be real happy when they hear *that* is your explanation!" I said that there is no reason for the elders to know, and anyhow, there is nothing wrong with it...
So, that being said, just wondering, how does the average JW feel about piercings??? Are they bad? Or are they a matter of conscience? Coud my situation possibly escalate? Some thoughts please....
