Ever have something weird happen in meeting, with APOSTATES!
by free2beme ini was at a meeting one time and the elder was giving the talk on "sex and marriage" on a sunday.
i always hated this talk and the elder giving it always seemed uneasy with such a bold topic in a mixed age group.
well, right in the middle of the talk, this woman stood up and asked "so, are you saying oral sex is wrong?

One time some smurfs came in the hall and we had to ask them to leave. They wouldn't so some of the "brothers" escorted them out, where they got upset and told the brothers to "go smurf themselves."

Book study in your home
by pratt1 in.
did anyone have the book study group meet in your home?.
my family had the book study group meeting in our basement and it was such a drag.. some of the reasons why it sucked.. the house always had to be spotless.. my mom insisted that there was always refreshments available for after the group meeting.. some dubs used to wander into other parts of the house, including my room.. if i missed the bookstudy because i was sick, some would actually come down to my room to talk.. there were many times when little things would go missing, glasses, magaizines, books, food, you name it.. people would check out my music and books all the time.. i have long since moved out, but mom still has the book study meeting there..

my parents had a BS for a few years when i was 16ish, i don't remember any severe problems, I liked not having to leave my house to go to a meeting, but it all ended one night after I had moved out. My parents kept my room exactly as when I lived there, which included 5 glass shelves mounted on the wall with my most delicate posessions, about 30 car models my dad and I built since I was 5, expertly done too I might add. A few ornaments and keepsakes from friends, a couple small trophies from school (ping pong champ and class clown) and a bunch of other easy breakables. One night after a book study some brat picked the lock to my room with a toothpick to look around, they remembered from when I lived home how cool my room was I guess, but anyways this kid was like 15 or so shoulda had better sense. The brat tried to scale my glass shelves to get my "death of superman" comic I had displayed there.
CRASH!!!!! All 5 shelves come down and everything on it now fits in a 2ft sq box. My dad came down and freaked and I mean FREAKED, my dad can really lose his temper, he was screaming at both the kid and her mother (yeah a girl did this) they left in tears and apparantly went to the elders to bitch out my father, but I liked their response, "you deserved it" After that my dad killed the bookstudy.
On a side note the woman who's kid destroyed half of my childhood stuff gave me a really cheap snap-tite model that cost like $5 in compensation. and if any of you build models you know how great those are.
On another side note, my parents never told me about this till I came home again a year after it happened, where I re-freaked out at mother and daughter team, this time they brought me a half decent model and I rudely explained that (a) they destroyed probably $1000 worth of my stuff not to mention the time or sentmental value of it. and (b) you keep the model, shove it up your ass and stay the hell away from me.
And yes I still have the box of plastic broken models, my mother thinks I'm nuts but I still shovel through the parts and get some memories from them.

Renting movies, did you really chose what was OK for Christians to watch?
by JH in.
i remember at the hall, there was a speech where the brother said that 90% of movies weren't for christians.
the way he talked, about 90% of movies had sex in it or violence or anything that christians shouldn't watch.. funny thing is that every time i was invited to watch a movie with the jw's, there was plenty of violence in the movie they chose, and it didn't seem to bother them whatsovever.. gee, i rented lots of movies with sex and violence, and it didn't bother me at all.

2 incidents come to mind...The time all us kids wanted to see Ghost Busters wow what a battle in the cong that was, needless to say the mothers that took their kids got spoken to. The other one was when my best friend and I planned out a military operation to sneak terminator 2 into the house and set the alarm to watch it a 4a.m. sharing a headset plugged into the tv. we were sweating bullets but was it ever worth it...sad though when you think of 17 year old bad asses sneaking around to watch an arnie movie.

Good Childhood or Bad Childhood?
by weinermcgee inah i pressed tab this time instead of enter!.
i am allowed one more topic today so i thought i'd make it interesting.. i'd have to say that i had an awesome jw childhood i had lots of kids to play with, my cong always held special things to make all the children happy such as renting space to have parties or watching disney movies at someones house, movie theatre parties.
sliding parties (you know sleds on hills, no gt sno racers back then), all kinds of things that prevented us from getting worldly friends.

I dream of the day when JW come knocking at my door, I want them to start a bible study with me! carry the charade on for months get a CO's to visit me and DO's to visit me see how long I can keep it goin! Then one day jump up and say: HA HA you idiots I'm F-ing disfellowshipped get the F out of my house.
They don't call me evil for nothing! This is what most people would consider a joke or at least a funny exageration, but its ok, I understand from your posts that you are still an active JW so a sense of humour is probably out of your reach.

It may not have been right and trouble started in our teens when kids wanted to join school sports teams and date, but up to 13ish it was great.
I think i was in a special cong when i was growing up or maybe i was naive, but i enjoyed it and after living in numerous congregations later and seen how cold people were to each other, i think there was a time in my first cong when most everyone was genuine they wern't part of a religion they really treated it like a family. when I look back at my parents old photographs its seems like people were so happy and having fun and not fake about it. That image is what made me stay in it so long, i wanted my family to be like that. But i believe now it was a one in a million thing, the "society" has squashed anything special that cong may or may not have had.
So like i said i enjoyed my childhood, and i enjoy having high morals which i still don't know if i got from the brainwashing or my parents or just cause I'm a good guy.
