  that text reminds me of one of a handful of problems peculiar to the ex-jw community.

  second only to the wild beast's internal divisions, is the divided makeup of the ex-jw populace.

  you know the one thing that indicates jehovah's blessing upon the worldwide association of kingdom proclaimers, is not only the continued success of the preaching work, but along with it the unity and love amongst the brothers and sisters.

  for a conglomerate of folks that get off on accusing the WT of flip-flopping, the ex-JW community isnt exactly consistent ya know!

  The one (massive) difference is that this community doesn't claim to be a under the direction of God's spirit.

  To be fair, maybe it's me. Maybe I've been a JW so long that I cant imagine being part of any movement without unity and love amongst ourselves. How do you folks do it?

  Yeah, it's hard. Painful, to begin with.

  But as time goes on you realise how much easier life becomes. Less stressful. More enjoyable.

  Examine JWFacts closely. Check the quotations.

  I did. And slowly, but surely, realised that the Truth is not the Truth.

  Help with making a "timeline of beliefs"

  i would like your help in making a "timeline of beliefs" for jw's... for example, i want to start with:.

  "a jw/bs would have believed the following in 1880:.

  the last days started in 1799.. jesus's parousia occurred in 1874.. jesus started reigning in 1878.. the end of the harvest will be in 1914.. the end of the gentile times will be in 1914.. the end of the world will be in 1914.. belief in the ransom sacrifice is vital for salvation.. hell is not a bible doctrine.. .

  can anyone save me the stress of listening to the self-appointed faithful & discreet slave for 3 hours, and give a clue as to roughly at what point in the proceedings was the derogatory term 'bum witnesses used, and by whom?

  i'd really love to extract that comment and send it to a weakening witness, to highlight the judgmental arrogance and name-calling being displayed.. many thanks in advance folks!.

  Talk out loud in public places...new preaching method? And go bags..

  i have been told of two things i had not heard of before.. one is a new preaching method, going to public places in a group e.g.

  a cafe, and then talking of the topic quite loudly, for example maybe studying a watchtower or a chapter in a publication.

  the idea being that people listen in and enquire etc etc.

  There was an item in the KM last year on Go Bags. It got the JWs excited around my neck of the woods.

  I did point out that where we live it's not exactly disaster land. And what if the disaster strikes when you're at work...? A stony silence ensued.

  As for 'Loud Witnessing' I'd like them to try that in front of some of the ex-JW's here.

  "So what is your current understanding of 'generation'? Why did God allow you to preach and teach the old versions in his divine name given that they weren't true? For decades..."

  Literature carts are the cruisiest way to preach ever - photo attached

  it was a perfect spring day, and a jazz band were playing in the mall near my work.

  in front of the band, two watchtower literature carts stood in solidarity.

  i could not work out who were the jws attending them.

  I found one of these carts near a mainline train station the other day.

  The two 'looking after' it were barely looking at it as they nattered away supping their Starbucks coffee. It really is a joke. No wonder publishers are lapping it up. Easy hours + coffee + chit chat = perfect Min.

  And I've never seen a single person show any interest as yet.

  Lying to children

  zac's first tooth just fell out, and so people are telling him that the tooth fairy will come with money.

  zac asked me if the tooth fairy is real.

  i am at a loss as to what to say.

  You could say...

  "What do you think happens to the tooth Zac?"

  If he says, that the tooth fairy takes it away and leaves money, then you say "Ok lets see what happens. Where do you want to put the tooth?" and have fun with him placing the tooth under the pillow.

  Then when he's asleep swap the tooth for the coin.

  When he wakes up and finds the coin ask him what do you think happened? If he says the tooth fairy say, have you ever seen a fairy? And get him him to reason on never seeing a fairy. Then, with a big smile, asked who is in your home that loves him so much that they'd leave a coin for his tooth...?

  That way you he gets one fun night thinking about a tooth fairy but then gets a kindly lesson in reality the next morning.

  i was just appointed an elder this summer.

  i started discovering the ttatt (the truth about the truth) last year after putting a few things together myself concerning the leadership and then doing some research online.. i really enjoyed jwfacts.com, jwsurvey, and others.

  Welcome indeed!

  Former MS and Temp Bethelite here. It was in Bethel that my doubts started. But I battled on for 13 more years and started to fade this year. Lots of highs and lows ahead but everyone here will support you as much as they can.
