The Trump Connection
by Coded Logic ini'm a little dumb struck to see that donald trump's first cross word against russia are in support of the jws.. http://fox-news24.com/trump-warns-russia-over-jehovahs-witnesses-ban-and-urges-members-to-seek-asylum-in-the-us/.
is this because trump genuinely values freedom of religion?
or is it because his son in law jared kushner has financial dealings with the jws?

Was looking at my childhood book "From Paradise Lost to Paradise Regained" I found something interesting.
by Still Totally ADD ini was showing a friend of mine what kind of books my parents allowed me to read when i was very young.
no children books that was age related but the so called orange paradise book was my only children book i had.
she was taken back on how violent it was and showing little kids being killed by god was just unspeakable.

Upon closer inspection I see we are wrong. That is not a little girl with a doll! Notice how it is a matter of perspective. That is another girl/woman down below her. She is not holding the hand of the girl/ supposed dolly, below. Notice also how the "little girl" has breasts. I fear we are all mistaken.
Phew - that's alright then.

Observations from an Ex-Elder Part 3 - Why not create multiple Adam & Eve's?
by doubtfull1799 ini saw a post the other day on another forum (think it was reddit) that put forward the idea that god should have created multiple couples, not just adam and ever.
this idea was so simple and brilliantly logical, that i wish i'd thought of it, but i cannot claim credit!
but it really got me thinking of the practical implications and benefits.... if god had simply created multiple couples instead of one, he would in one foul swoop have solved the problem of incest, as well as have prevented 6 thousand years of human tragedy and a ransom sacrifice being needed etc.

I always got the "ransom" part
Interesting - I didn't.
IIRC the ransom was needed because a perfect man was needed to 'buy' back what another perfect man had lost. But...during the WT's sciencey public talks, they talk about how the sun will run out of hydrogen and that God can replenish the sun because of that scripture re the earth will be inhabitated for ever.
Hang on.
We know that suns die. We know that due to the huge distance that light need tos travel these events occured 1,000,000s of years in the past. So sun's dying must be part of God's perfect design, as these events happened before Adam and Eve sinned 6,000+ years ago.
So...if God can suspend his perfect laws for our sun, why couldn't he do the same for Adam or Eve? Or come up with a better plan to resolve the issue that this enormously painful one that involves suffering across human and animal life for 6,000 years and counting?
Our Sun's death can be stopped to fulfil his prophecy. Pity he couldn't have been more pragmatic with humans!

Lots Of Whining And Complaining About Us JW's

society’s annual income and the money they/we have in the bank.

And what is your truth?
Logic and reason works for me!
Are any of you preaching the Good News of the Kingdom?
The JW version of the Good news of the Kingdom is a man made fantasy. It requires people to believe in a made-up version of history. It's nonsense!
This is your truth. This is YOUR RELIGION!
You clearly don't understand what a religion is. A website isn't a religion.
Jesus will close the door soon folks.
JW's have a long history, 140 years alomost, of false predictions and pointless speculations. They will continue to do so whilst there are enough gullible people to follow them. Christians have believed for almost 2,000 years that the 'end' is close. Probably because they were told in the first century that some of them wouldn't taste death. But they all did. All Christians and all JW's age and die. Then the next generation wave the flag and say "it will be me, it will be me!" - and it never is.
You think this world will get any better?
Yes! It is getting better. Think about the last 2,000 years. When would you rather be alive? When did you get better healthcare, education, jobs, technology etc. than today?
It's getting worser and worser very fast.
The world is getting better and better. Do your OWN research away from the biased WT publications and you will see this for yourself.

How Old Was Eve When She Was Tempted?
by berrygerry inhas this question ever been answered by wt or biblical apologetic?.
if near the beginning of her creation, would she not have had the effective development of a a toddler or even a baby?.
if so, would you sentence a toddler or a baby to death for grabbing an appealing candy from a bowl?.

Supposedly Adam lived 30 years before Eve was created (WTS doctrine).
ooh - interesting Blondie.
Do you know the reference by any chance?

Firstly - congratuations!
It's incredibly hard to do what you've done. It might be tough now but as the years go by you'll only wish you did it earlier.
You said:
I plan to formally disassociate from the Watchtower Society at some point
Don't.
That means you'll be playing by their rules. They have no authority over you and some in the KH might start putting pressure on your wife to think about her 'spiritual welfare'.
Given that being d'fed ultimately means the same thing carry on as you are and hopefully in time your wife will wake up.
On a general note - do you see any change amongst the JW's in terms of 'waking up'. Is there growing disaffection or do they still believe as before?
Well done again - welcome to the real world.

Violent Games/Movie
by Saethydd inall through my childhood, i was told about the evils of violence (and magic) in entertainment, i doubt i could count the number of movies and video games i wasn't allowed to enjoy for that very reason.
i did always watch movies and play video games with a certain amount of violence in them, but i was careful to keep it at the teen/pg-13 rating.. in the last year or so though i've started trying out games like skyrim, fallout 3, and thief.
(since i still live with my parents i'm careful about where and when i play them.

That can not be denied in intellectual honesty.
Banning guns seems to be a simple idea.
Here in the UK we play violent games and have no school shootings. We did have one school shooting over 20 years ago and subsequently banned hand guns.
It's nice living like this.

I attended a lecture 2 weeks ago on this topic and it was pretty clear that our world is about to change again:
'90s - internet
'00's - tablets/broadband
'10's - smartphones/mobile internet
'20s - AI
It's hard to say what is exactly the impact will be. But it will be profound. The guy pointed out this story and said, why tell your kids to train to be lawyers? Why get your kids to train to be teachers?
So yes - the sci-fi vision of Terminator robots will likely not happen, but the job market will go through a collosal change over the next 10 years.
Scary/exciting times!
