ANYONE HERE USE ORACLE?

Interesting. I can't know anything more than what you told me, but from your description, I'd say you have a massive case of cluelessness there in your IT department.

"Oracle won't do that!"

The fact is, (assuming it's essentially the same as SQL Server, which I'm sure it is) Oracle won't do anything. It's just a database; that's what it does, stores data. You have to write software to get that data out of it in the format you want. Do you guys even have an in-house IT department?

Sounds like somebody did a baaaaaaaad job of looking at all the factors on this deal. Sorry to see you having such trouble.

But I since I don't believe the Watchtower has any connection with Christ, I won't let them taint my view of him and steal *my truth* away from me just because they lied to me using Christ as their con.

Just a thought here, no big deal. The way you worded that made it sound like a black-or-white thing: either believe in God/Jesus, or else the Watchtower stole your truth from you. That means that if you ever reach the conclusion that there's nothing to it all, you'll have that stigma attached. I'm just curious whether you've considered that. If your reasoning led you, somewhere down the line, to the same conclusion I've reached, would you fight against acknowledging it, generate some cognitive dissonance in yourself? And do you realize that if that is the case, then the Watchtower still has control over your thinking?

COMF... not wanting to subvert faith, just looking at it straight on.

sorry it's been some time since i posted but i was busy rearranging my life.

just wondering what the general consensus is among posters on this board to this question, is death the end of existance, or a portal to a new reality?

my 2 cents, death is only the beginning of a new reality.

The New Pledge of Allegiance.

an email i received today.... since the pledge of allegiance and the lord's prayer are not allowed in most public schools anymore because the word "god" is mentioned..... a kid in arizona wrote the attached.

Not only is it grossly misrepresentative, it implies that the lack of audible prayer in school is the cause of the imaginary "chaos reigning". Typical propaganda.

I believe I'd have to get me a god who could make it okay on reading hearts. The one who puts me in front of a gun because nobody prayed out loud is a bit too self-obsessed for me.

i received a call from chris yesterday.

my friend mattie thought she would rub in the fact that i have a date for the pig picking(pig roast).. well, he called three times.

(twice he left a message for me to call him back.

There's nothing to understand, Shari. It's like saying you want to understand why water is wet.

It's just that way. Some people are selfish. Some are deceivers. Some are clueless, some are evil, some are demented.

You just have to develop an ability to spot the signs early on. There's no need to discuss it with them. No use to try to point it out or get them to admit it, or to change. It's wasted effort. What is, is.

Like everybody's saying, just move on. There are decent men in the world. You won't be meeting any of them while you're investing effort in a lost cause, though.

I've never worked with Oracle, myself. My department's all Microsoft, so of course we use SQL Server. But the business has several departments that use Oracle. I've never heard anything bad about it, except that it's big and meant for handling scadzillions of simultaneous hits. What's the problem there where you are?

Could it possibly be the software that's accessing Oracle, rather than the db proggie itself?
