This is an absolute outrage. This does nothing for my faith in humanity, to say the least. This person is sick and psychotic and shouldn't be allowed to see the light of day again. Really. He is just treating people as slaves, and people who treat others as slaves do not deserve their freedom.

By the way... not that this is anywhere near as important as the fact that this is just plain sick... but why all the requirements about no shorts or pajamas or whatever? Obviously my boyfriend likes to see me in flat out sexy clothes... I mean, REALLY sexy stuff... but he thinks I'm cute and sexy in pajamas, too. He has bought me 2 pairs and he always gets excited when I wear them! Why would that not be sexy as well? I don't get it.

just thought i'd share my utter joy that it's started snowing again in surrey - hopefully it'll settle properly as it's dry outside.

we had about 2 cm of snow last week but it soon went away with the sleet.. is it snowing anywhere else?

come on, make me jealous with tales of 3 feet of snow in scotland !

Yeah... I live in Buffalo... no snow is a lot more exciting than snow here. Although, like most of the country, we actually have had a mild winter. Any snow is too much snow for me, though. Just thought I'd share.

i am having kind of a bad day.

i know that i really should not complain... i know that i have things so much better than most people on this planet, and everyday that i wake up with my health and a roof over my head and something to eat, i am having a great day compared to most.

it makes me think... why do i even bother throwing them out?

Haha, no, the JWs are not the ones who do my hair. One of them is the receptionist and the other is a girl that does people's hair, but NOT mine.

there is and always was a lot of suffering in the world since the beginning of history, so who is to blame?

is it a god that doesn't care or a mankind that refuses to be reconciled with god and through that find salvation?

tetrapod... I posted my last post before I knew you posted yours... so I wasn't ignoring yours or anything.

The meaning of my existence, I really believe, is to be a loving person and to help other people and in some way or other to serve God. I cannot say that I am entirely comfortable with this idea... because I get really upset sometimes about serving a God that I don't understand and that I think allows a lot of cruel things to go on. I don't know... I am not able to explain myself very well and I wish I could. I am really trying to figure things out right now, and I have been doing a lot of reading and a lot of thinking... maybe taking a public speaking course would benefit me, lol, and then I could explain myself better. I have so many questions and so many thoughts about this topic but I just find it hard to really express myself. It all comes out sounding wrong or dumb. But at the moment, whether I am happy about it or not, I think that I have been created... and that it is the will of the Creator who made me to bring Him some sort of pleasure. So that would be the REASON that I was made... but I don't think that I do a very good job of it, that's for sure.

Ugh, I am just so confused! I think my biggest obstacle to believing and serving sometimes is the fact that suffering and pain exist... or rather, this frightens me, because then I think that maybe God is not so nice after all.

daystar... of COURSE the thought makes me uncomfortable... but I am not THAT worried about it, because in all honesty, I really do believe that there is meaning to life.

It's okay if you don't want to agree with me, or even if you want to think I am just a complete fool that is too uncomfortable with the thought so I am deluding myself. That's fine, you can think that. It is probably mind-boggling to you how I could convince myself that anything has meaning... but to me, it's mind-boggling that you could convince yourselves that all of your feelings and emotions and relationships are nothing... they are just the result of the evolution of the human brain. I just don't get it. I mean, I really do question things and doubt things sometimes... but at the end of the day, no matter how I have tried, I just cannot bring myself to believe that everything is really meaningless. It just doesn't match my experience. I wish that I could explain it better, and I feel bad for not being able to. But really... it's okay if you want to call me a moron or you don't agree with me. I will try to figure out a better way of explaining myself... and I appreciate having people to be able to talk to who don't just scream and judge right away... at least, I don't think that you do. I do appreciate it.

i realized it is the end of the month.

each day as i was passing by the kh this week i was noticing that there was an ever larger group for service - first on saturday, then on sunday a huge number of cars [for this hall], then today a sizable group too.. then it hit me - time to get the field service time pad out and get set to report.. by tomorrow the zeal should be back to normal again.

I was really surprised because this one KH in my area always had tons of cars parked outside it and I was like "Whoa, these people are enthusiastic, to say the least." Then I found out that the office building next door pays them to let its customers park in the KIngdom Hall parking lot because their parking lot is too small.

i will begin by stating that i have been an inactive jw for about four years now and i currently have no plans on returning to the organization at this juncture.

i have read many of your experiences with the jw's and wts and i can certainly understand the rage, hatred, depression, anxiety, and sense of hoplessness as a result of your association with the jw's.

personally, i have had simliar experiences with the jw's such as an elder constantly chastising me for every "bad" thing i did by always informing me that " if i continued on the course i was on i would be destroyed at armeggedon.

Watchtower can be sued for NOT allowing blood transfusions ???

i was watching the news today in alberta canada, saw a preview for the 6 o'clock news tonight mountain time channel 3, there will be a piece about a former jw, father (i believe it is lawrence) who's daughter died of leukima, and was not allowed to have blood because of her religion.

apparently the court has ruled that he can sue the watchtower for negligence, hopefully someone can tape this news piece and put in on the net, unfortunately i don't know how to do that.. go lawrence !!!!!!!!

I should write to my paper again and encourage them to show it. I wrote to them the last time something came out about blood (the new blood directive, or whatever, last month) and the paper never ran the AP article. I am getting a little aggravated. I wrote to a bunch of different editors and so did my boyfriend. I know most people probably don't care about JWs THAT much... but this is a human interest story, too, in a way. Stuff like this always generates A LOT of interest... so I don't see why the paper won't run it. They certainly can't be worried about offending JWs... I think about 2 of them actually read the newspaper. Plus they ran a whole lot of articles exposing Scientology... and I think Scientology is a lot more popular in my area than the Watchtower is.

I'm sorry... I really am not trying to be argumentative... I have read a lot about some of these topics on BOTH sides of the argument. I question things all of the time... but I just don't get why it would be more comforting to believe that the universe has meaning than to believe it doesn't... I know that humans can and do invent all sorts of things (elves, etc.)... but why would it be SO UNCOMFORTABLE to believe there is no meaning if there wasn't one? Why would it be so difficult for us to deal with that? Why would we hate that so much? I don't understand why we would be comforted by the idea of meaning... it's a lot different than being comforted by the idea of Santa Claus. It's a lot deeper than the elves issue. I just don't get those explanations. Please don't tell me how dumb I am or something. I have really tried to understand both sides of it but I don't comprehend how inventing "meaning" would comfort us... why would we need that to comfort us?

Jehovah's Witness Hall Vandalized

Even though sometimes I'd LIKE to... I really wish people wouldn't do that. It ends up making the anti-Watchtower people look psycho... and then people actually feel SORRY for the JWs and their precious precious building.
