  You have misunderstood what I am saying. I do not deny that non jws can be kind at times. But I still think that most people (jw or not) will do evil most of the time unless they make conscious efforts not to do so and rely on God. I too think that the bad outweighs the good in this world. And I don't even have to look for it. It is there for everybody to behold.

  You guys are being inconsistent. You go on about child molestation and lying, as you should. But your actions on this board indicate that you do believe there is such thing as good and bad. Surely child molestation is inherently bad, is is not?

  And fyi, I cannot just accept abusers, drunks, and sexual perverts as they are. I must be true to myself, the scriptures, and the dispprobation that such actions cause in my heart.

  ???You may be correct that all of us carry seeds of Gods love in our hearts and that this leads us to do good, but in that case what leads us to behave badly? The seeds of Adam? Describe this process for us and let us judge your theology on its merits.???

  Genesis says that a young man's heart is inclined toward bad from his youth up. I believe then that we are predisposed to commit evil acts. That does not mean that we must do evil deeds. But we are inclined to do so.

  But when Adam and Eve sinned, the fall did not eradicate the inward image of God from the human heart and mind. Man still retained the image of God, only now it was distorted and not perfectly reflected because of the principle of sin. The apostle Paul explained that there are two principles operating in a regenerate man or woman of God. (Romans 7) These two principles do battle with one another. They are polar opposites engaging in existential strife. But the free will of man allows us to make choices. We are our choices and can defeat evil thought the good. Scripture and the inward approbation or disapprobation that we feel when doing or hearing about sin helps us judge what is good or bad.

  Man, if left to his own devices and with no self-restraint, will take the path often traveled.

  I did not say Jesus rejected the common men or woman because of their sins. I said he did not condone sin. There's a difference. But my point is that your gentle Jesus condemned sin and talked about people going to Gehenna.

  I said that men retain a measure of goodness in their hearts. There are people that are not jw who do kind acts. But that does not obviate my previous observations. Man is inclined toward evil and basically bad. Most people will do evil acts most of the time. This does not mean that they cannot show some kindness every now and again.

  I spoke ill of terrorism and did not just say that Americans suffered or died. And NYers did show kindness after that tragedy as did other Americans. But what happens after the tragedy? Back to the same ol.

  Does the badness of child molestation depend on my definition of it? And that act is not only happening in churches and the kingdom halls. It is happening around the world. Look at the Elizabeth Smart case. How sad.

  Some people in this place are kind. But I have seen many that are not. If you just come in this place and dissent from popular opnions iun this place, you get cussed out and reviled. I consider such behavior evil.

  And I don't know hardly any jw who look forward to 99.9% of people being killed. Else why go out and preach from door to door trying to warn people of the oncoming destruction?

  And as far as your claim that people outside the "borg" are good, you musta had your head in a hole of late. What about the terrorist threat in the US and things that go on in Jerusalem? These things are evil. What about non jw moms who drown their children? What about men who abduct and kill young people? Humanity is evil Wars and all.

  You show me where Jesus condoned sin. Prove that he thought 99.9% of people are good and I will believe it. You know as well as I do that the Jewish Jesus said no such thing.

  The teachings of Jesus are found in the New Testament. Read 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 and Galatians 5:19-21 and you will see what Jesus taught to his apostles. Jesus also said that a man should not even look at a woman or he commits adultery in his heart. Your gentle Jesus also said that anyone hating his brother in his heart or one who speaks abusively to another fellow human is worthy of Gehenna. Look it up in Matthew 5:21-22.

  My man LL Cool J asked, how you gonna come against an army with a handgun? I ask you the same, dearie. When you step to Comforter, you best be ready for battle.

  I made it clear that humans are not totally depraved, they have a measure of goodness in them. Notice I said too that all humans are basically evil. Me and you included.

  My argument is objective. It is based on what men have done and still do. The empirical evidence suggest that men are basically evil. And no matter what people think, good is "good" and bad is "bad." Comforter thinks we know what is evil by the inward appropriation or disappropriation we feel and by scripture. Motives don't mean squat when someone commits an act that harms themselves and others. Take child molstation for a second. Is it good or bad? What if one commits molestation with good motives? Does that make molesting a child good?

  Most or all people are good. So they say. Actually, humans are basically evil. The Bible says that man be inclined toward what is bad from his youth up. (Genesis 8:21) The human heart is treacherous, who can know it? (Jeremiah 17:9) All men have sinned and fall short of God's glory. Men are basically evil.

  Comforter is not saying that people are totally depraved. They are not. We are made in God's image and we retain a touch of that image even while sinful. But all humans are inclined toward evil because of Adam and Eve. Therefore I do not trust this world and the bad advice that worldly counselors often give. It is simply wrong to believe that we just have to accept people as they are, warts and all, when it comes to morals. Christians do no such thing. Drunks, homosexuals, fornicators, greedy persons, revilers or adulterers will not inherit God's kingdom. Christians need to resist sin and every semblance of evil.

  The Enlightenment teaching of inherent goodness is a fallacy. Wake up and recognize.

  Thanks for the data, Valis. But I would not call what I normally post "crap." There is nothing crappy about the Bible or God. I really wondered about the profile of pedophiles however from the standpoint of deviant behavior and criminology.
