Welcome Todd!
I was in Utah from 1985-1994 or so. Was in Spanish Fork congregation most of it but was in American Fork and Provo for a short time. Move to CA and faded away in 98.
You've found a great place to find friends and people who understand.
my name is todd and i am new to this forum.

i am from salt lake city, utah and i have been free from the wtbts since 1998. i wanted to also see if there are any ex-jw's in utah that might want to chat.

i am curious, how many of you were lurkers on jwd before joining in the party?
im not sure if there is anyway to know how many people at any given time are just reading the posts and not posting, versus active members.
i am going to do a pseudo-scientific analysis based on responses to the following questions:.
I was very active in an AOL chatroom for DF'd persons when I first stopped going to meetings about 7 years ago. (I'm not DA or DF)I even hosted one for a while. Did a lot of research to reaffirm my decision. That lasted about a year. I didn't leave for doctrinal reasons, mainly the people and witch hunts. The doctrinal lies just added icing to the cake.
I am married to an active JW so need fortification sometimes.....found this a couple of weeks ago and just jumped in. If JWs had been anything like the people here, I may not have thought to leave or question.

when you were a witness did you feel like a christian, .................i always thought the born again seemed more "christian", even though i thought we had the truth .
bloody hell that was quick !
I didn't have to give it much deep thought...

I think most of the time I just felt like a freak....
please do this, it will only take a minute of your time!!!.
a favor to ask .
it only takes a minute.... .
Thank you Frannie. And yes, I've already done my share of whining the past couple of weeks. Just trying to get a grip on things and quit looking back and asking why. Sometimes I catch myself wallowing in it and have to slap myself. LOL, kind of reminds me of the example we all heard of someone being stumbled and keeping on laying in the parking lot. I sure don't want to be one of their examples!!
the examining the scriptures daily 2006 has been released.
the jw rites of surprise and expectation over the new year's text are now at a fever pitch.
it seems that the theme "godly obedience" was such a hit at the 2005 district conventions, that the governing body has served up an extra helping.
Wow, for a minute there while I skimmed through it, I felt like I was sitting alone at a table with bright lights shining in my eyes and water slowly dripping on my head. Make it stop, please!!

Sent to 15 co-workers and family members so once they send on, it should be a a little bit more!

many thousand years ago, jesus expelled demons in people.
do you think it's possible today that people, maybe you or i, may have one or more demons in us, controling us to a certain extent?
I had a demon on my back for 22 yearsI left it behind in the WTS
That reminded me of something that would be said on one of those 'priceless' commercials. Amen to that!
they are cute breeds like king charles, maltese, pug, etc and one can see them often on the city streets taken for walks by their owners.
they feel comfortable even in a small appartment, don't shed an aweful lot of hair, are affectionate, and don't cost much to feed.
on the other hand they are not made for very long walks out in the countryside or mountains they can accidently be seriously injured due to their delicate physique and can be very aggressive with strangers.
Since my nest has emptied, I've replaced my children with a chihuahua. I don't know what I ever did without her. One of my daughters actually got her before she left home and I told her she either had to stay at home forever or leave me the dog.
She sleeps under the covers with us and never gets left behind. It would have been so much easier raising puppies than kids!
i have just witnessed for myself one of the most hypocritical scenes ever before in my life!
my sister's ex husband, ( father to 3 boys, 12, 15, 20 years) commited suicide a few days ago.
he has been a jehova's witness all of his life and and also suffered from bi polar disorder for most of it also, particularly bad in the past 3 years.
My condolences for your family's tragedy. I am appalled but not surprised. There is no condoning of actions like these and here you will find warmth and understanding. Welcome!
