I'm not sure about that. I was always having to wake up my kids from toddler age through teenage years. I think they spent most of their years there in a trance and they were all smart enough to leave it before I did!

Subliminal messages and the "nodding off" mind
by Lady Lee inok i know there are all kinds of educational tapes you can get to help you learn better and faster.
many of them are tapes you put on and then go to sleep.
the rationale is that it is easier to learn while you are sleeping.

Street work
by pratt1 in.
maybe this only happens in urban neighborhoods but when i was growing up, many dubs engaged in street work, basically offering the magazines to people on the street as they walked to a destination.. usually it was an area with a lot of foot traffic at a time when many people would travel the area.. did you or people in your congo engage in this and were there any funny stories relating to this practice?

I am actually going out on Sat for a few hours.
EWWWWW.....If I had to name the biggest relief I experienced after becoming a 'dropout', it would be not having to go out in field service. The most sincere prayers I think I prayed were that nobody would answer the door! Just thinking about it now makes me feel queasy. I look back and still can't believe that I had to go out when my last baby was 2 days old because the Memorial was in a couple of days. Why in the hell did I feel it was my obligation to do that??
My husband, on the other hand, always loved it and still does. He's done the bus stop thing, laundromats, rest stops, truck stops....you name it.

I was reading a post today about the kingdom songs we sang as JW's.
by booker-t ini was thinking about the kingdom songs we sang as jw's and was wondering about you posters out there that are ex-jw's or still jw's what was you all time favorite "kingdom song" or what was you all time horrible song that we sang from both songbooks (1966 songbook or the later songbook made in 1984 sing praises to jehovah.
my favorite song was song #119 in the 1966 songbook "keep your eyes on the prize".
i like this song because it made me feel that armaggeddon was coming fast and the "new system" would be here to give me the prize.

I am such a music lover. I'm one of those people that hum all the time without thinking about it. I just got through checking this post again for comments, remembering every song mentioned.
I'm at work and just left my desk for a minute and realized I was humming.......Myriads on Myriads of Brooothersss
MAKE IT STOP!!!!
I keep trying to remember one song though....every time it started I felt like it was a funeral march. Very dark sounding. It would be good to have playing at your door on Halloween.

Something I realised today......
by ozziepost inmrs ozzie and i were at koorong bookshop today; we hadn't been in a while and mrs ozzie wanted to get a particular book as a birthday gift for a friend.. koorong bookshops are religious bookstores here downunder and supply heaps of good theological books, bibles, recordings and the like.
when we were making our first steps along the road to freedom out of the borg, we were regular visitors to koorong and built up quite a library from the books we bought there.
like i said, we haven't been in perhaps a year and we mooched around a bit.

After the past several years of research and trying to point out things I've learned to my husband, I have decided to let it rest. He claims to have looked at all the information I have brought up and researched it for himself and yet refuses to entertain the idea that any of it may be right. Personally, I'm wiped out after our many discussions and see no point in beating a seemingly dead horse.
In spite of the fact that I sometimes get caught up in the frenzy of reliving bad memories I thought were put to rest, it has been a huge burden lifted to be set free from the control that held me captive for over 20 years. I enjoy knowing so many others have found the same refreshment and would like to simply offer encouragement and empathy to those just starting out. There are many others here that are much better with the debates over doctrine. I've seen such a good blend of all of it here and am amazed at the number of new ones to appear here in just the few weeks I have been dropping in. What a wonderful thing a forum like this is!

Hello to all, and thanks for your kindness...
by james_woods injames here; exjw for about 25 years.
was "in" from 1963 to 1980 due to parental "guidance" beyond my own good sense.. have been to elder school, bethel, wthq, etc..., knew many of franz heretics in the mid-late 70 trouble from oklahoma city.. have many silly stories to offer...but for now just will say this - .
if your "god" was really going to come down here and kill everybody on earth except for the wt people who the society liked, would you not stand up to fly the first fighter jet against such a horrible alien?.
