KHAA, reasn Watchtower is afraid of Kingdom hall related lawsuits (mishaps)
by DaCheech inunlike any other business or homeowener in which we go out and buy insurance, the watchtower self insures itself.. each year all congregations sent a check through the wefts system for $4.5 for each publishers they have.
this money goes to the watchtower, and is kept as khaa or kingdom hall assistance arrangement.
any time fire, vandalism, or mishaps happen the kingdom hall supposedly sends the bill to the watchtower, and they will help with this bill (of course all labor will be done pro bono through regional building committe).

Pat Robertson says god's name is "jehover"
by Jourles ini had to stop in and post this link.
it came via a jw chain email.
all of the jw's on the chain are super excited about robertson admitting that god's name is jehover.

Ironic that that church uses 'Jehovah-Jireh' but you won't find the word 'Jehovah' itself in their bible. Dumb really.

Has anyone researched the "Bethel" of the bible?
by megsmomma ini found this extremely appropriate.
the meaning of bethel (which the wtbts will tell everyone) is house of god....yet in 1&2nd kings it talks of bethel turning bad and being full of false gods and being destroyed.
(there is one part that says that they would let anyone in and make them a priest...no qualifications...just like at bethel) has anyone done studies on this?

Try www.docbob.org. There is an article on this very thing under the 'miscellaneous' tab.

"Evidence God's Kingdom is Near" - Dec 06 Awake
by yaddayadda inthe society's completely nonsensical and contradictory stance on when god's kingdom comes is really brought home in this awake!
the dec 06 awake ("jesus - who was he") has as it's second article "the life he makes possible" (referring to jesus).
in that article is the subheading "evidence god's kingdom is near" which reads as follows:

You are right GermanXJW. The so-called 'composite sign' is not a sign at all, they are just things to indicate when he is near at the doors. They are the budding leaves that indicate when summer is near (Matt 24:32,33). The sign of the son of man that appears in heaven is the 'sign' that he is finally 'present' (Matt 24:30)

The Governing Body said it ... are you ready !!!!!!!!!!!!
by run dont walk ini was at a funeral this weekend, the first time i'd been in a kingdom hall in 13 years, the talk was short about a half hour, and all jw stuff as expected, but the one part of the talk made me laugh, the speaker said :.
"we (a group of elders), had the oppourtunity to speak with a member of the governing body at the assembly, and he said : "we the governing body are confident that armageddon is close, and are ready for jehovah's day, are you ready ???"".
i couldn't believe my ears, they will never learn.

Good points Terry. Much thanks for the re-formatting Jeff. I use Mozilla Firefox and have attempted a couple of tricks to try and get around this problem but nothing works.

JESUS CAN NOT BE JEHOVAH GOD IN THE FLESH
by juni injehovah the god of the hebrew scriptures treatment of his creation is questionable.. jesus (his son) of the greek scriptures only on one occasion lost his temper - in the temple w/the money changers.
otherwise he was kind and patient and compassionate for people.. how can this be?
why such a difference in personality if they are the same "person"?

As far as I understand the orthodox trinity belief, the Father and the Son are recognised as entirely separate individuals (but equally 'God'), and Jehovah is recognised as the Father. So I don't think most trinitarians even hold to the belief that Jesus is literally Jehovah incarnate, although I know some more extreme trinitarians teach that.

What proof is there that the JWs were chosen by Jehovah to be His people?
by VM44 inwhat proof is there that the jws were chosen by jehovah to be a "people for his name"?
growth in numbers is not proof, other religions also have displayed such growth over the last 100 years.. material prosperity is not proof as other religions also have considerable wealth, both in cash, property and real estate.. printing the watchtower and awake!
magazines certainly is not proof!.

If I was an apologist I would say, in all seriousness, because they alone are by FAR the largest global religion that holds to 6 fundamental scriptural truths: The truth about who God is (ie, not a trinity, etc), the truth about the soul and the condition of the dead, the truth about what God's kingdom is, they are neutral in politics and war, and they recognise and use God's name Jehovah (transliterated). Other groups may hold to some of these beliefs, in varying combinations, but none hold to all 6 of these prime truths, and they are all much smaller than the JW's and so it is not logical that Jehovah has used them.

News - Neanderthal DNA 99.5% Like Ours
by Satanus injust recently, some scientists managed to sequence neanderthal dna.
while this discovery is not totally explored at this point, the following data are quite solid.. using different techniques, two teams of scientists separately sequenced large chunks of dna extracted from the femur of a 38,000-year-old neanderthal specimen found in a cave [image] 26 years ago in croatia.
one team sequenced more than one million base pairs and the other 65,000 pairs of the genome.. .

LOL, that would be amazing news if Neanderthals ever actually existed, which they never did. Hey, why don't they do a DNA sequence on Bigfoot.

Jews for Jesus VS. JWs - Which one is closer to the 'truth'?
by Santisimo inhere's my question, which organization do you think follows the teachings of christ more accurately, jews for jesus or the jws?.
after all, jesus did live and die as a jew not a christian.
james, the brother of jesus carried the congregation immediately after his brother's death and he too, lived and died as a jew (even though he was killed by other jews who considered him a blasphemer).

Don't know enough about the 'Jews for Jesus' movement to say. You'll have to tell us more. I don't think it's a question of who is following James, or who is following Paul, etc. It seems absurd to try and carve up the new testament like that. You either accept the entire NT canon or none of it. It's a question of who today is following Jesus' own sayings and teachings correctly as recorded in the gospels.
