LOL, methinks you are talking about a different kind of 'inspiration'. Echart Tolle doesn't even believe in God. His God is the 'present moment'.

Lost inspired scriptures
by greendawn indo you think that there were a lot more god inspired christian writings than the ones we have, but that they got lost at some stage?
.
i believe all we have is but a tiny fraction of all such writings and also that the authors (apostles, their associates, prophets) of the writings that survived had no idea that their writings would be collected into a book ie the new testament.

The book of Enoch is full of visions about a burning hell and so forth, so it is clearly not inspired because we know that there is no such place. In this respects it is like most of the gnostic gospels. The paganised concepts of hell had clearly crept into the thinking of many Jews and pseudo-Christians and this is reflected in so much of their books and 'gospels'.
However, the truth nearly always lies somewhere in the middle, and more than likely this is the case with 1 Enoch. That book evidently contained a mixture of truth and falsehood. Jude quoted what he knew or felt was true.

are the claims that the story of jesus is derived from "earlier savior-gods krishna and horus" credible?

I believe the Great Crowd may represent all those saved, whether in heaven or on earth, that have a righteous standing before the throne after the tribulation spoken of in Revelation is concluded. The 144,000 represents those who go to heaven only, the holy ones that get to rule with Christ, although this number is not literal. So the 144,000 is a kind of sub-set of the Great Crowd. It's just my idea though.

re-post for ALL LURKERS TO BOYCOTT in Feb...
by in a new york bethel minute in.
this was a post in the "friends" section but i think it's important and a really good idea.. but it's gonna get washed away by other topics... .
how about every lurker on here and all others spreading the news that unhappy jw's worldwide are to do a general boycott of all jw related activities (meetings, fs, etc) in for the entire month of february 2006. would be interesting to see what happens to the us average publishers for that month... come on just be irregular for one month!.

NO, the idea is to start a rumour that reaches the JW population so any unhappy but loyal JW can do the boycott. What would be the point of people on here, 90% of whom don't go to meetings anyway, only boycotting.

There's absolutely no doubt that 2034 will be given more and more prognosticatory prominence by the WTS as the years slowly go by and this date looms closer and closer.

Assuming you believe in God, then that's a bit contradictory because if other books truly were 'God inspired' then God would surely have ensured that they would have remained until today for all mankind to read. God wouldn't allow books he 'inspired' to totally disappear.
I have read some of the gnostic gospels and they are so full of pooh it is amazing (eg, they nearly all describe a burning hell where the wicked are tormented). The difference between them and the 4 canonized gospels is pretty stark.
