I thought that it was a pretty weird movie. It does show the effect that an adult can have on a child's life. The children were afraid to say no to the bully. We can learn from that. "Fear of man is what lays a snare." I kept getting confused at some parts of the movie. I guess that I'll have to watch it again. Edited to add: I haven't watched very many movies since the twins became witnesses. I guess that I shouldn't let that keep me from doing things with my youngest daughter.

Circuit Overseer Visit

this week, my congregation has the privilege of the visit from the circuit overseer.. my mother took a day off work to go out.

i put in for extra hours.. in the off chance we get wrapped up in discussion, what should i say?.

See if your mom can get him for dinner one day. Help her bake a chocolate cake for him and slip in some exlax so he'll have the runs during one of the elders meetings.

Or say that was a really good blood pudding chocolate cake. Then say it isn't a sin to eat blood if you're an alien resident. Is it?

My D/f appeal meeting went amazingly, but the still want to d/f me

sorry how long this is but i found the meeting very exciting.

the short version is i said directly that i do not believe in the wts, feel being d/f is unfair on my jw family so asked them to just leave me alone.

it didn't work.

I'm glad that you had the balls to go in there and give them a swift kick in theirs. They are hypocrites. How can they disfellowship you for having a so-called apostate site when they are reading it, too. Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black. They should be getting counselled for reading your site, this site, and any other site that they used to impale you.

You were put on trial without a jury. Nothing but a Kangaroo Court and a back alley lynching. IMHO

I think that they are sadistic. They really get enjoyment out of breaking up people's families. I hope that your family will not turn their backs on you.

Those with children, do you want your children to be sexually active?

i know that we all felt the witnesses were to over the top on their restriction on sex, but do we want our children to be sexually active the way we wanted to be?

for example, should they have sex in high school with their girl/boy friends?

should they not be committed to anyway, and just have sex with whoever feels good at the moment, or better yet, who ever is willing?

Only when they're old enough and well off enough to accept the responsibilities that come with children. I have all girls. I've always told them that marriage doesn't mean that the man will always be there. I taught them that they will need to have a good job. Right now, I don't want them to be sexually active (well the younger ones). I have girls and I don't want them hurt, and I don't want them to get any sexually transmitted diseases, or unwanted pregnancies.

I do want them to have a healthy concept of sexuality, and not to fear sex.

Circumcision and Gestational Surrogacy ... JWs' beliefs?

two quick questions to broaden my knowledge of witness doctrine, only for the sake of keeping up with what my in-laws believe.

either of these issues could, after all, come up someday ... (not that their beliefs will affect what we do, but it's nice to know from what direction the fights are coming.

1. circumcision -- clearly allowed, but is it required?

The JWs equate the practice of surrogacy to fornication/adultery.

That's exactly what a pioneer sister (elder's wife) said to me. Some story was in the news about a mother who was carrying twins? for her daughter. Her daughter was barren, so mommy get impregnated with the son-in-law's sperm. She, also, likened it to incest.
