Do economic worries make JWs joyful?

with the us economy tanking and on the verge of a major collapse if the right steps aren't taken, the average person is probably a little concerned.

i haven't seen anything like a panic yet, but it has been a source of discussion with collegues and neighbors.

to be honest, i'm a bit worried.

I really think it is the WTS that should worry....they have their money in losing mutual funds and the price of real estate going down...this is the end for the WTS. Their Armageddon. The WTS Lawyers will reap what is left.

i posed this question on another thread... namely burns and hooberus...wouldn't answer, so i thought i'd ask it again in an open thread..., .

you on the right disagree with roe v wade... so that means that you want to redefine when a zygote, embryo, or a fetus has what anyone would rule for lack of better words "the right to life"... .

exactly when is life, human as per your definition?

The clump of cells you are from the time of conception is the person you will be more or less depending on your upbringing as well. I guess that is why some of us human beings survive even the most harsh environments growing up and some do not. Why do some us become addicted to alcohol and others not? It is in our genetic makeup which happens at conception.

Wouldn't the DNA and genetic makeup,personality be decided at the moment of conception? Therefore the clump of cells is a human being.

Maybe I am getting off the subject but uwnanted babies who are born to parents who will abuse them should terminate the pregnancy. It is very disturbing to me to see an abused and unloved child as it must be for the rest of you. Our prisons are full of these children as adults. They suffer untold mental problems for the rest of their lives.

Shunning Family Most if not all major cultures recognise that family if of utmost importance in life. Healthy family relationships are a key contributor to happiness and emotional stability. Family is the core of society and the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 12 states; "No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation." The Watchtower Society contravenes this right by forbidding members from having general association with their own disfellowshipped family members (unless they are too young to leave home). Perhaps a shunned JW could take this up with the UN and win in a court of Law. It will certainly bring attention to the cult of the Watchtower leaders.

Are there any religions that worship God but do not believe in an Afterlife

it seems that people only worship god for the reward of a resurrection.

people normally do not admit that, and say that even if there was no resurrection they would worship god for the life that he has given them.

a good indication of whether this could be true is if religions existed that worshipped god but do not believe in a soul or resurrection or everlasting life.

It is not an easy thing NOT to believe in an afterlife...even without religion, it is programed into our very being. So it seems. BUT I don't really know if there is an afterlife.
