  I have shared bits and pieces here and there on this discussion board of how and why I became a JW but to make a long story short....I remember reading in 1967 and hearing about the JWs in Malawi who were being killed and tortured because of being told by the WTS they cannot buy a 25 cent government card. I remember praying for those brothers and sisters. I remember sheding tears for them. I was very young then and in total shock that a government could be so cruel to it's own people. What I didn't know at the time was that this God awful WTS organisation was at the same time allowing the Mexican brothers to BRIBE officals for a card telling the Mexican government they had been in the military service for a year, when in fact they had NOT. I see a double standard by the WTS and as far as I am concerned I see Blood on the hands of the WTS for the killing of the Malawi JWs. Plus the Pedophile issue and the hypocrisy of the UN membership for 10 years. .......This is not something I can see that Jehovah will approve of from what I read in the scriptures. DO YOU?

  Removing "God"

  with the continuing thiest-athiest debates that go one here, i have a question, mainly for believers.. as a believer in god, how does it make you feel when you hear about athiest michael newdow's efforts to have "in god we trust" removed from us currency?

  i guess this question could include the 10 commandments being displayed on public building issue, or removing reference to god from the pledge of allegiance.

  WT decision makers = hopelessly out of touch

  i worked at the hq for a few years in the 90's and i've personally known and met several influential bethelites during my time there.

  these are brothers that have been there 20-30-40+ years and hold various degrees of authority within the org.

  looking back and thinking about these ppl, i can't help but comment how out of touch these people were.

  Hurr. Katrina and the WTS' slacking hand

  i work in a business that is dealing with the aftermath of hurricane katrina.

  in perusing a list of shelters in the affected areas i see civic centers, schools, several churches, but no kingdom halls (gasp!).

  My friend Karen who was from Houma, was a saint if there ever was one, and I admired her for her Mother Teresa ways. I have always been kind of shy but I followed her lead and invited her friends the downsouth Jw's to come and stay with us, to give more room and beds and I enjoyed them so much.

  I find that most people from Louisiana are giving and kind...not just the JWs

  Jan 1st WT: Reaching out, Higher Education and Providing for one's needs

  well, as a nice start to the new year, the jan 1st watchtower article, "how firm is your trust in god" blasts those who live comfortable lives, those who don't reach out, and those who pursue higher education.. definitely, they are taking a harsher stand, having completely painted themselves into a corner.. i highlighted the interesting comments.

  i did not include all the text for each paragraph, just the main points.. .

  1 a young man wanted to be more useful to the congregation.

  12 If a person becomes attached to his possessions as that wealthy young man did, they could become a barrier to his serving Jehovah wholeheartedly. That could be true of one who is already wealthy and on one who is determined to be rich. Trusting too much in material things can lead a person to be less conscious of his spiritual need.

  AND aren't the WTS and GB attached to their wealthy possessions. YES the GB are definitely LESS CONSCIOUS of their spiritual need.

  I think I might have a DEMON in the house!!!!!...Spooky!

  for about a week or so now!

  it all started one day when i was in the laundy room and i heard my husband pull up in the driveway, shut his door, unlock the door to the house, shut the house door, so i go down to greet him ( with a big kiss and hug, as i always do

  anyway i get down stairs and he is not there so i assumed that he was already out feeding comet!

  I use to hear noises in the kitchen at night and the dogs would become spooked late at night or early in the morning and go running into the kicthen barking loudly. I finally caught that rat with rat posion. Haven't heard noises since. I do however go around the house closing doors and windows when a scary movie is on TV. Do you do that to?

  DannyHaszard, Forgive my poor memory, I just can't seem to remember how names are spelled on the forum...especially when the spelling goes against the norm. Beside that, I am a poor speller.

  The new world translation however is not my own, it belongs to Fred Franz the way I understand it.
