this is outrageaous imo.
we in the western world take freedom of speech as a given, this brave journalist has been sentenced to death for questioning why the rights of women should be curtailed by bigoted men in his country.. i was so sad and upest that i am posting the link here http://www.independent.co.uk/ to the newpaper in the uk spearheading a campaign to put pressure on the afghan governmet to overturn this egregious judgement.

Does the Watchtower know more than Jesus?
by JH inthe watchtower, with all the years they predicted the end, and all the years they said something invisible happened up there in heaven, do they know more than jesus, who said, "only my father in heaven knows"...

I should answer that question in the affirmative. They've got a Personal Jesus!
They are the agency through which the universal sovereign hold dominion over the earth.

What did you learn as a JW that helps you in your work today
by Lady Lee innote: if you are cautious about being outted then be very careful what you post.. the biggest thing i learned was sign language.
after i left i had a few jobs interpreting.. public speaking - didn't help me at all - that could be because speaking to someone else on the platform doesn't gives women an opportunity to address the audience.
i took a intro course in public speaking that was far better than 22 years of the ministry school.. i'm thinking .

I am convinced there are many things I could have learned. The fact of the matter is, it all comes at a price. As a CO once inquired after my willingness to serve at bethel, I responded that I'd rather stay in the trenches than living in an asylum called bethel, insulated from the real world.
So maybe, I could say that I've learned not to be impressed by position and pressure.
Further, I am not haunted by nervous breakdowns when I have to make a presentation, whether the audience is only one person or a larger group.
On top I should say, comparing a lot of sales tricks with the KM presentations, I found a lot of similarities. So, exploring that avenue brought nothing new in the sense of format. It has brought new insights as to why! and that's something the WTS doesn't tell you.
Come very handy in my line of business.

-Turns out I was ALWAYS an "apostate".
by Awakened07 ina recent post by jcanon (of all people, lol) jogged my memory and brought back (repressed?
) memories from when i was just a kid.
i remembered that i was constantly thinking - thinking of all that i learned as a jw (and at school/elsewhere), but i was always able to look at it from "outside the box" even as a kid.

How dangerous being a truthful human is:
- we have independent thinking that let's us astray - we have conscience that misguides us - we have a hart that is treacherous to us - we have our sinful flesh that leads us into temptation - we have a ravaging tongue
Happy apostate!

Comments You Will Not Hear at the WT Study (12/2 CONSCIENCE)
by V inyour comments are appreciated too!
thanks for all the support.. .

Thanks for your comments on this WT drivel. I really enjoyed reading your thoughts.
When I googled the part:
denunciations of oppression, murder, treachery, and falsehood, the same injunctions of kindness to the aged, the young, and the weak,
I was reverted to http://www.independent.org/newsroom/article.asp?id=1565
The quote the WT has done is only partial. It also points to the following qualities: The answer [to the claim that cultures radically differ on their moral codes] is that this is a lie—a good, solid, resounding lie. If a man will go into a library and spend a few days with the Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics he will soon discover the massive unanimity of the practical reason in man. From the Babylonian Hymn to Samos, from the Laws of Manu, the Book of the Dead, the Analects, the Stoics, the Platonists, from Austrialism aborigines... he will collect the same triumphantly monotonous denunciations of oppression, murder, treachery, and falsehood, the same injunctions of kindness to the aged, the young, and the weak, of almsgiving and impartiality and honesty... There are, of course, differences. There are even blindnesses in particular cultures—just as there are savages who cannot count up to twenty. But the pretence that we are presented with a mere chaos—though no outline of universally accepted value shows through—is simply false.
Why would they leave out the latter 3 qualities?
The writer of the article claims that the above is quoted from C.S.Lewis' book: “The Poison of Subjectivism,” 77.
But as to the link with the chronicles of Narnia:(source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C._S._Lewis)
Universal morality
One of the main theses in Lewis' apologia is that there is a common morality known throughout humanity. In the first five chapters of Mere Christianity Lewis discusses the idea that people have a standard of behaviour to which they expect other people to adhere. This standard has been called Universal Morality or Natural Law. Lewis claims that all over the earth people know about this law and that they break it. He goes on to claim that there must be someone or something behind such a universal set of principles. (Lindskoog 2001b, p. 144)
These then are the two points that I wanted to make. First, that human beings, all over the earth, have this curious idea that they ought to behave in a certain way, and can not really get rid of it. Secondly, that they do not in fact behave in that way. They know the Law of Nature; they break it. These two facts are the foundation of all clear thinking about ourselves and the universe we live in. (Lewis 1952, p. 21)
Lewis also portrays Universal Morality in his works of fiction. In The Chronicles of Narnia he describes Universal Morality as the "Deep magic" which everyone knew. (Lindskoog 2001b, p. 146)

Sorry to say so, badboy, but..eh.... there have been mayor conflicts which could easily be called world war. And..eh...about doing things differently.....don't hold your breath.....these type of things have a ....certain....predictable way of going about.
Wt has bullshitted from it's inception. The same goes for all those end time sects and religions. As a case in point: the reformation was filled with groups holding expectations that have not come true.
Eventually, the end result is either they've become mainstream or they've disappeared in the margins of history after some decades or so.
WT is headed for the grave, they just do not know it, yet.

Nice to read, although I found some peculiar point in there. But this one caught my attention:
And I like it that my mom doesn’t politicize her beliefs. She’s never voted for a law that discriminates against gay people, or anyone who isn’t a Jehovah’s Witness. Her Bible tells her to love, above all.
The statement itself must be correct. If she is a JW, she really did not vote......at all :-) How does that reflect on his representation of fact and objectivity? (see me being gay and applauding JW's?)
"politicize.. believes".
Merriam Webster:
1 a: of or relating to government, a government, or the conduct of government
b: of, relating to, or concerned with the making as distinguished from the administration of governmental policy
2: of, relating to, involving, or involved in politics and especially party politics
3: organized in governmental terms (political units)
4:involving or charged or concerned with acts against a government or a political system
I feel that all the JW believes have a political connotation: 1) it clearly does not allow for entanglement in earthly governments and 2) the heavenly government would eradicate (soon) all civil liberties we now enjoy. To hold JW believes is quite a political statement I dare say!
