good chance you'll bump into at least a few witnesses while working behind a bar. the majority of witnesses I know have major drinking problems!
next time you get a group of witnesses at your bar you should pound a few shots, jump on the bar, strip to some rockin' song and then dedicate the little number to them....he he he

some of you may know that i had regularly been studying with the jw's for about two years, but i was never baptized.
i stumbled on some information about the child molestation scandal a few months ago, and that started me on the road to questioning the organization (for further details on my situation, see my topic history).. anyway, up until now, i had decided to just fade into the background, still attending sunday kh meetings because i want to attend some church, and i just don't know where else to go (don't agree w/ the teachings of the other churches in my vicinity either).
my last "study" w/ my bible study conductor (a month or so ago) was terrible.

doesn't it just get to you when they "shudder" or "pity" or "feel sorry" for you!!!????

I have a problem myself calling them insulting names. there are still a lot of people I love dearly who are misguided by the org.
but I do understand those who are angry and feel the need to use the names they've chosen.....they don't offend me
i have a problem that im hoping you can all help me with.. my daughter who is now 11 was devastated when we left.
she loved it, our fault we did everything by th book.
she wants to go to the meetings with my parents.

I was thinking of your situation today and I don't know if it's been said or not yet (haven't had to time to read all the responses)
I'm thinking we are talking about an 11 year old girl. I remember being 11 and I hated being told what to do without getting my feelings on an issue first. Your daughter is most certainly old enough to be talked in a straightforward manner about all this. Sit down when both of you aren't emotional and find out why she really wants to keep going to meetings. I'll bet given her age it's the social aspect. If it is; does she realize she can have friends at school now? Maybe it's not the social issue, maybe she is really scared of displeasing Jehovah or dying at Armageddon. Maybe she already feels torn between pleasing you and pleasing grandma. find out her reasons and then go from there......
just a thought. hope it helps.

what about something to inform people about how cults work like Hassan's book or my first book I read was called "toxic faith"
it was excellent. it seemed "safe" to look at to me because it didn't witness bash
you just never know what you might wake up to.. .
i can usually see the skating rink in the park below my window.. i can usually see the river between those trees in the background.
i can usually see the mountains beyond that.. as you can see, i can't see any of those things today.
so pretty LEE!! my kids are ohhing and ahhing over that picture.

I agree with everything Narkissos brought out...my thoughts exactly!
You've been given a lot of excellent advice: program fun activities on Sunday, explain her why you don't believe it anymore, let her selectively access JWD or other xJW sites, make your stance clear to your parents.
But inasmuch as she still wants to go once in a while I'm on the side of the "don't forbid". Forbidding makes the forbidden desirable and a JW meeting is not worth that.
Alot of what you do depends on your daughters personality and your parents personality. We are going to have to be pretty firm with one set of grandparents because of how they are know for their manipulative ways. We know they will try to put ideas in our kids head about how bad mom and dad are for not letting them go to meetings.
so sorry you and your daughter have to deal with this
