Hey Unclear - it takes a little while to make the break once you know the truth about "the truth." I remember going to meetings and knowing it was all BS and feeling like I was in a Twilight Zone. Hang in there. I used to make grocery lists also, and underline all the BS in the paragraphs!

i don't want to go but i must because my husband has to make a good showing, hey i think i will make a gorcery list and write a letter.
i still don't know if being on the board is the right thing in jehovah's eyes, but i do appreciate the opportunity to learn about the organization and it will be my first time back to meeting after doing quite a bit of research....hmmm we will see.

WT filters and why people don't see what's right in front of them
by Lady Lee inmany of us find it hard to understand why we didn't see/read/understand what was right in front of us all along.
we get frustrated with those who are still in who can't see what we have discovered.. i think i just found a similar reaction.. i've been playing an on-line game called luxor.
i've been playing this for months now.

excellent thoughts Lee.
I too have been so surprised at times that I even let myself start to think for myself. Growing up a JW and having two parents who basically treated us as a nuisance and worth nothing, I had serious esteem issues. Us kids were never allowed to think differently than my two parents and if we did have an independent thought it was squashed immediately.
I have come leaps and bounds in my esteem issues and so much of it was breaking the toxic relationship with my parents and then the org. -

I love it when I find stuff like this with all the inconsistencies in the Insight book. I found some of my own also when I was in my "bulldog" phase. Evidence like this is so overwhelmingly obvious to people like us, but don't be surprised if the elders you show this to say something to the effect of "well, that's pagan secular historians opinion, they aren't going by god's word!" UGHHHHH!! idiots, I know.
some people will just never look at the evidence and the weight of it. -

What have you accidently dropped onto/into your keyboard?

i've dropped:breadcrumbs drops of spaghetti sauce on the keys.cokewaterjuiceoatmealsoft and runny egg yolk.
the worst was oatmeal although that was easier than the egg yolk to remove.

this is really gross but one time my youngest kid was sitting on my lap while I was at the computer, and she looked up at me and said "mom, I don't feel good" and then leaned over and vomited all over my keyboard! it was so disgusting - had to get a new keyboard. LOL!

I am looking for an old friend

i must say i had a blast in bethel (but doesn't everyone when they're single?).
anyways, my wife and i had to leave due to her getting pregnant and after that my life became insane trying to make it in the "real world".

My hubby left Bethel in 1994 and we got married and we too still feel the effects of no work history, insurance history, etc. from those years. It's such a waste of time to be there and then they drop you flat on the street with no money. Even criminals leave prison with a little bit of money to get started!

Unclebruce- Of course they are one in the same to JW's! I remember when I first found out the 607 stuff and I started to question the literature and everything I was ever taught. I literally could not, in my own mind, begin to question the society without feeling like I was betraying god himself. It was horrible. I prayed all the time during those first few days for god to not just strike me dead because I was questioning HIS society and HIS words.

wow, I can't believe she says that! you know, she may be more willing to hear you out than you realize.
There were things that always bothered me, but man I would have never admitted even to hubby that I fudged on my hours.
IMO - if you start presenting things to her don't bombard her with lots of stuff. Make it seem like you are just learning these things and you are coming to her for her opinion....
