Taking Life Too Seriously
by joelbear ini've been thinking a lot this week about what has gotten my brain into the mess that it is in.
yes, chemistry plays a part, but i think thoughts affect brain chemistry as much as brain chemistry affects thoughts (especially over a long period of time).
i know that one thing for sure is true, i take life and all the bits and pieces of it way too seriously, allowing my emotions to be swung on a much greater arc that i should.. but just think about witness childhoods.

Yes! joelbear...... isn't it cool when we as ex JW"S can learn this? it's also a learning process for me...
the other day, me and my kids went to the park and I just ran around and had a good old time with them. we had a swinging contest and I got the highest so I won!
it was a blast.......doing nothing important except what REALLY matters. having fun.
btw - loved your pottery. I would like to try pottery as one of my next art mediums.

My wife caught me and in bed!!!!!!
by evergreen innew that would catch your attention.. yes its true folks , my wife caught me in bed reading notes that i had written down about raymond franzes book crises of conscience.
she is a staunch follower of the borg and i have now been inactive for about 2 years.. i wrote about 30 pages of notes from this book as the only place i could get my hands on one was from the library.
i couldnt order one as i was so afraid of her finding out i was reading "apostate " material.. she asked me what i was reading and said it was er just some notes i had written .

Evergreen :
Just a suggestion - move slowly on this and don't force it
this is the best advice. I applaud you for being so brave and sharing this info. with your wife and welcome to the board.
I recently left the org. and it was because of a VERY similar situation with my hubby. take it slow. If you wife is like I was, she will be curious enough to do her own looking. I found notes on the 607 thing that my hubby left out and I went and did my own research to prove him wrong, and yet I wound up finding out the truth! It sounds like your wife is very curious and has a brain. try to keep her from the elders. ask her if she can just give you and herself time to do some pondering on this before she speaks to the elders. let her take the next step. your job now is to just love her and spoil her. it will help things run much more smoothly if she sees how much you truly care about her.....
Best of Luck! Keep us up to date.....freedomlover

what is a born again christina?
by tetrapod.sapien inwell, typically, a born again christina is a guy who is at the end of his tether, and doesn't give a f*ck about much anymore, and is depressed and cuts himself.
and then one day, on just a typical weekday, he meets a girl named christina, and she is so sweet and she gives him his faith again.
his faith in humanity and the universe.

The Way of the Dhamma
by Reluctant Buddha inthe dhammapada"the path of the dhamma".
the dhammapada consists of 423 verses in pali uttered by the buddha on some 305 occasions for the benefit of a wide range of sentient beings.
these sayings were selected and compiled into one book as being unusually worthy of attention because of their beauty and relevance in preparing future buddhas.

How do you connect?
by serendipity inas you read on these forums, what is it that causes you to 'connect' with a certain poster, sight unseen?
is it the comments s/he writes that mirrors your viewpoint?
is it a sense of humor?

However, when you read about people's life experiences, and watch things happen to them (ie ITIS and FreedomLover) it builds an emotional bridge between you.

Is it all downhill after leaving JW's?
by lynnmelo ini know many people will get angry at this, but i had to share some observations i've had since i discovered this board a couple of days ago (see my original post under "why all the venom?").
i'll be very honest and say that i was hoping that i would discover that the jw's were wrong about some things, including the so-called "apostate" sites (i have been recommended to some internet sites and some books that i plan to investigate further).
i was hoping to find that people really didn't need the jw's "spiritual food" to remain true to god.

this is one of the things that I became upset about with my book study leader
can you enlighten us any further? are you studying with the JW's or are you already baptized and involved? edit - sorry if you've already brought this history up and I just missed it somewhere
