  Shave heads?

  .

  just a few weeks before the district convention, there was a brother playing a major part in the drama who decided to shave his head.........(there wasn't a lot there anyway) (this happened 3 or 4 years ago somewhere in canada).

  as a result, he was told he could no longer be in the drama...........and someone else had to step in on rather short notice.. it seems they still equate everyone with a shaved head as some kind of a "skinhead", belonging to a gang or something.. is this how it's views elsewhere?

  I have not seen shaved heads on the platform. However I do notice some shaved heads in the crowd amongst the assemblies. That is new.

  It is the style to wear if you are JW "fringe".

  Does the Rainbow Covenant Disprove the Flood?

  the story goes that god provided the rainbow as a symbol of his promise to never again destroy the world by flood.. noah and his family saw the rainbow after they left the ark.

  after the waters had receeded.

  after it had stopped raining for months.... yet a rainbow is simply sunlight spread out into its spectrum of colors and diverted to the eye of the observer by water droplets.

  How does the a rainbow disprove the flood?

  Granted this is a simple-minded argument, but let me make it simpler...

  How did a rainbow appear after the flood if the rain had stopped days before??

  Perhaps you could retitle the thread, "Does the Flood Disprove the Rainbow Covenant?"

  Yes, a rainbow needs rain to appear.

  Read the Biblical account and see for yourself:

  (Genesis 8:1-7) After that God remembered Noah and every wild beast and every domestic animal that was with him in the ark, and God caused a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters began to subside. 2 And the springs of the watery deep and the floodgates of the heavens became stopped up, and so the downpour from the heavens was restrained. 3 And the waters began receding from off the earth, progressively receding; and at the end of a hundred and fifty days the waters were lacking. 4 And in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. 5 And the waters kept on progressively lessening until the tenth month. In the tenth month, on the first of the month, the tops of the mountains appeared. 6 So it occurred that at the end of forty days Noah proceeded to open the window of the ark that he had made. 7 After that he sent out a raven, and it continued flying outdoors, going and returning, until the waters dried off the earth.

  (Genesis 9:12-16) . . .And God added: “This is the sign of the covenant that I am giving between me and YOU and every living soul that is with YOU, for the generations to time indefinite. 13 My rainbow I do give in the cloud, and it must serve as a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 And it shall occur that when I bring a cloud over the earth, then the rainbow will certainly appear in the cloud. 15 And I shall certainly remember my covenant which is between me and YOU and every living soul among all flesh; and no more will the waters become a deluge to bring all flesh to ruin. 16 And the rainbow must occur in the cloud, and I shall certainly see it to remember the covenant to time indefinite between God and every living soul among all flesh that is upon the earth.”

  The Insight Book fails to address the issue directly:

  Volume 2 p. 730 Rainbow

  The Bible does not describe the degree of clarity of the atmosphere just prior to the Flood. But apparently atmospheric conditions were such that, until a change came about when "the floodgates of the heavens were opened" (Ge 7:11), no others before Noah and his family had seen a rainbow. Even today, atmospheric conditions affect whether a rainbow can be seen or not.

  at their khs and conventions ??

  i suspect ..but am not sure if they still use this song.especially due to all the false statements in the words.. ours is the god of true propheceeeeee what he fortells comes to be!

  how do i stop her?

  she's is only 16 and is bent on getting baptised.

  i know for a fact she is doing it for show, to show that she is a mature sister.

  She is far more interested in her looks, materialism, showing clevage, effing when angry etc. Basically a normal teenager.

  Sounds like she be posting here someday. Let her do what she will. At that age, pressure will only result in a backlash. Let her know your mind and leave it. She will come back with thanks and an apology.

  "If I wasn't raised in, I would never have come in."

  My wife says that all the time. She is still a believer (although weak and apathetic). Her point is that she does not have a "spiritual" personality, and would have become an non-religious ambivalent agnostic (dare I put words in her mouth) if not raised as a JW.

  This statement does find fact in many born-in JWs--if not in word--then in deed.

  Garrett, who has written about Amish life, contended that the refusal to serve her was a violation of Kentucky's Civil Rights Act for denial of service in a public place for religious reasons.

  WT disfellowshipping procedure allows JWs to conduct necessary business with shunned members:

  Other problems arise in connection with business or employment. What if you were employed by a man who now was expelled by the congregation, or you employed a person to whom that happened? What then? If you were contractually or financially obliged to continue the business relationship for the present, you certainly would now have a different attitude toward the disfellowshiped individual. Discussion of business matters with him or contact on the job might be necessary, but spiritual discussions and social fellowship would be things of the past. In that way you could demonstrate your obedience to God and have a protective barrier for yourself. Also, this might impress on him how much his sin has cost him in various ways.—2 Cor. 6:14, 17.

  i attended on sat afternoon.

  points of note mentioed several times in talks:.

  pornography...still a big issue in dubdum...must be an epidemic the way they harp on it...especially porno on the web...so dubs are on the web in spite of the wt...no doubt on xjw sites also.. divorce...continues unabated by jw's all over.
