I would be your friend, but your not important enough.
by free2beme ini love these type of people, because they are so easy to see through.
you know the type, they meet you and they're all nice and all, but because your not important enough they don't really want to be your friend.
in fact, they probably got introduced to you by someone who is important and to make that person happy they give you five minutes of conversation or maybe listen to a thought or two, and then they are off to the next person and your nothing.

Questions From Readers - No More?
by Severus ini have noticed that recent watchtower magazines (15 november & 1 december, 2005) do not have the article "questions from readers".. anyone have information on this?
if the watchtower has discontinued the feature, it would infer that the "deeper things" are no longer a concern to the jw masses.
or is it testimony to a cinch on information control?

Sect or cult?
by Cady inso i finally decided to get my a** to the library and read some real research on cults.
the book i'm starting with is "psychodynamic perspectives on religion, sect and cult.
in the introduction they mention margaret thaler singer's definition of a destructive cult as an organization in which:a leader claims divinity or special relationship with god.

Proplog2, when a child is brought up in a destructive environment that is emotionally demeaning they may not develop enough sense of self to find their way out. In that case their environment can hurt them emotionally. The same is true of someone who at any emotionally weak point in life is preyed upon by a cult that offers a "way out," a sense of belonging and purpose. Such an organization can emotionally damage a person.
To infer that emotional damage caused by environmental factors is not actual inflicted harm evidences a pre-scientific mind. To the degree that someone is rendered less capable of coping with emotional trauma by their experiences, they are harmed.

I've been debating on whether or not to share this...but here goes

i take full responsibility for what i experienced this evening.
yet, i feel the need to share this experience that has me enraged.

No negative from me either, but they are really trying to separate his love from you in an active way. Here's my two centavos. you gotta go slow deprogramming your son. What does he like to do? Get him doing that on meeting nights and times for service. Don't make a big deal about it. Encourage him in every way you can to respect his grandparents and to think for himself.

I'm just numb! :-( I need to vent!
by caz ini have just witnessed for myself one of the most hypocritical scenes ever before in my life!
my sister's ex husband, ( father to 3 boys, 12, 15, 20 years) commited suicide a few days ago.
he has been a jehova's witness all of his life and and also suffered from bi polar disorder for most of it also, particularly bad in the past 3 years.

I have seen similar things in this congregation. "Love among themselves?" Pshaw! Yeah, an outpouring of love in death. Lots of opportunities to impress worldly relatives with the love.
