I've worn a variety of oils- but patchouli is my favorite still. MMMMMM
OK: I'm waiting for the barrage of posters that HATE patchouli.. ;)
Also Mademoiselle by Chanel is lovely!! Too expensive for me to buy, though.
The one perfume that my mom wore that I loved was one by Anais Anais- or maybe that WAS the name. "White something-or-other" ???

My letter to the "Glorious Ones."...
by Justice-One ini thought you guys might get a hoot out of this letter that i just mailed..... dear elders (or should i call you glorious ones?).
you can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can never fool all the people all the time.
and you certainly do not have me fooled anymore.

Hey J-1,
If you start writing all these different letters to your BOE all from "different" people won't it seem a bit suspicious and look exactly like one person is writing them all (even if you change the writing and style etc)? It would be a bit coincidental that all of SUDDEN these folks start to write letters.
Or are you going to do this to a different hall each time? I think that would be better. Maybe you even know about issues that are going on at different nearby halls. You could easily drive to different nearby towns to mail the letters so that they have the local postage stamp.
Good luck!
-Ha ha. I just have to say you LOVE these "missions" of yours- first the toilet stall bandit at the convention, now this- you totally missed your calling! The CIA is missing out on a good man!

Fluoroscope for the Feet !
by Amazing ini was watching the history channel today, and they discussed the shoe fluoroscope used in the 1940s and somewhat in the 1950s.
it was a device that used x-ray to help consumers see how their feet fit into the shoes they were buying.
the concept was that if one buys proper fitting shoes, then it will prove better for foot health, and shoes will wear better (implying that they will last longer).. then the problem statement: these fluoroscopes exposed the consumer to 75 rem per minute.

Ha ha. "Fluoroscope for the feet" sounds like something Russel or Rutherford would have hawked in the "golden Age" They'd have it advertised right next to the Miracle Wheat.

Rock The Vote: my secret is discovered
by under_believer ina while back, i registered to vote.
i even voted in our primary (nonpartisan issues only at this point--i'm still finding my "center.
at the time, my wife asked me if all this voting stuff we were getting all of a sudden was some new thing the state was doing--maybe you just get enrolled to vote when your drivers license renews, or something.

The Loved Up Thread [Fluff]
by diamondblue1974 init might have escaped your notice but sirona and i are totally in love and seem to have a mutual appreciation society thing going on; however this has not taken place without causing some online problems as some of you might be aware.. both dawn (sirona) and i are conscious that we have hijacked a number of threads given our perpetual state of being loved up.
given the untold frustration we might have caused to some posters we have decided to launch our very own jwd loved up thread.. this hopefully should allow threads to go on being productive without the frustration of people (us) whispering online sweet nothings and flirting and we therefore invite you all to use this thread if you are loved up, have similar mutual appreciation societies or simply wish to flirt with other online posters.
you can even use this thread to dedicate a post to someone who isnt online and who just lightens your life and makes you smile.. please join us and reassure us that we are not the only loved up people on jwd.. .

This is very sweet.
I'm happy you've found love. It's the most important thing to find, I think.

Voting a Conscience Matter?
by Blueblades inis voting now a conscience matter?
i remember it being discussed here somewhere and that there was an article on voting and that it is now a conscience matter.
does anyone know where that article can be found?

Wait- was that 1950 WT before or after the Mexico/Malawi incident?
The society inserting that '50 quote could be seen as a "see we said they could vote (get a party card) -The Malawians were acting on their OWN conscience, not a mandate from the society"
It's like everything they print is so carefully schemed out to cover their own ass.
Oh, and the part about if a husband "makes" his wife go the polling booth... the fact that they are reprinting advice like that in the twentieth century... No wonder their archaic stance on abuse (try to be a better wife and not give him a reason to beat you), wife OR child abuse.
Good, I'm now gonna accidentally let my voter registration card slip in front of my mom or JW friends- and then quote the June 15th 1999 WT on it being a conscience matter. Hah! so there!

GoOdy NiGht!
by TheKings ini don't know if that's the universal jw term for potluck nights or if all congregations have them but all the ones i went to had a potluck night at the book studies once a month.
does anybody have any good stories related to these occasions?
tonight my family is going to a potluck night and as usual they asked me to make something for it.

"goody night" -That's the exact term we used -once a month at the bookstudy, usually deserts instead of dinner-type food.

Why are we so mad????
by megsmomma inhttp://religiousmovements.lib.virginia.edu/profiles/listalpha.htm my hubby and i are thinking of going to a church.....it is about the right time for us.
we were trying to figure out which religion is suited for us and he found this site.
it is interesting that the description an jw's say that it is unusual that when people leave them....there is alot of resentment, unlike other religions.. i think it is due to the brainwashing....when you have believed something blindly, then discover you were decieved...it is worse than if you are a part of a religion where you can believe all they teach...or not.

I found I was looking for a group that is somewhat social, cares about its members and promotes good moral decision making, learning how to be happy and finding your place in the world.
The Buddhists were ok, but don't forget non-religious groups such as Atheist societies and The Secular Humanists and the Brights. These groups provide upbuilding moral and social support without subscribing to an imaginary superhero in the sky. ('cept for the Buddhists, they are pretty religious).
