LOL daniel-p... they are SO into those wacky alternative therapies...
I remember when my dad (he is a psychologist) totally got into hypnosis. He would try to hypnotize me- I thought it was cool because it was prohibited but it was ok for me because my dad was more of an authority to me than the JWs. Even so, mentally I fought "going under" because I thought it was a bunch of hokey.
I really don't know anything about hypnosis- whether it works or not. Anyone have any accurate info?

But hey- aren't like 75% of the (sisters mainly) in the congregation on some sort of anti-anxiety/depression meds??
I thought that this was discussed here and everyone siad that their whole congregation was taking meds...
and i think it's time for me to take another.. and no i'm not stating this to get attention, i get enough at home (for a sick man hubby sure has been frisky lately .
so, i may be here a while longer or i might just go into lurk mode or i might just say f**k it and go.

when we came near to the door, she ran, leaving behind two kittens.
Go to the Humane Society? I know it is $35 to drop a dog off there. Not sure of the cost for cats/kittens. I would think that kittens should go pretty fast at the Humane Society...

I am baptized but faded for ~5 years. My hubby has never been a JW. I faded by moving several times and not showing up at the new Hall. I did not move in order to fade, just graduating school, moving to a new school etc.
I still have friends that I communicate with who are active (very!) JWs. My mom is an active witness but talks to me, no prob. She knows I no longer believe but we do not discuss it much. We respect each others beliefs. My dad was never a JW but did not oppose me and my mom being JWs. My sister was raised a JW but never baptized, said she never bought into it. Our family is pretty tight.
james leuba conducted a survey of scientists in 1916. they were asked a whether they believed in a god who actively communicates with humanity, to whom humans can pray and expect an answer.. to believe in this sort of god would mean you were a theist.
if you're a deist, or agnostic, you believe there's a god but he's not necessarily interested in humans and we wouldn't pray to this god.. the results of this survey revealed that roughly 40% of scientists believe in this sort of god, making them theists.
40% didn't, making them either deists/agnostics or atheists.
I think that would vary between scientific fields.
I bet a lot more computer engineers, mathematicians, etc are believers in god than are biologists, geologists and paleontologists.
And DEFINITELY more of the former are creationists than the latter.

After I decided that the JWs were a crock, I used to have nightmares that I would be visiting home or visiting friends out of state and I'd end up in service with them- they did not know I didn't want to go and I was terrified to have to go to an actual door where I would have to speak against what I knew to be true!!
