Hi OFG
So, following in the great tradition of phrenology and the like, what does YOUR nutsack say about near-death-experiences???

80% of Near Death Experiencers Can't Wear Watches...
by FMZ ini have had about 5 digital watches since my nde when i was young.
every single one of them reset itself regularly.
2 of them i gave away because of the problems i had, and their new owners (my father and brother) never had a problem with the watches since..

if an atheist does something good...
by DannyBloem in.
if an atheist leads good life with high moral standards, because he choice to do so and thinks for logic it is a good thing, does it not mean much more then when a theist does the same, because his gods tells him to do it?
what's your thoughs on this?

I am glad that people do good things, whatever their motive.
BUT I would feel better (more "warm fuzzies") from accepting an act of kindness from someone who genuinely wants to be nice to me than I would from someone who is just being nice so they get some reward.
The atheist in that case would be more genuine.
But I have known lots of devout believers that are really nice just cause they are nice people. Not all believers are just nice because it gets them somewhere. -

Oh, I don't deny that there is some kind of electrical "field" around our bodies, just that it is in any way spiritual or paranormal. I have seen that in action where this ex sister (a JW at the time but later turned into a psycho) rubbed her hands over my body, did some sort of crazy muscle testing thing (eh, don't buy into that too much) and held one hand over my forehead and one over my belly button and pressed down on it. BUUUT she wasn't pressing down when I looked at my belly- her hand was ~2 inches over my skin and I felt the pressure. She said it was the electrical charge I felt. But I wouldn't base my acceptance of the electrical field surrounding our bodies on that experience. It was a long time ago etc, whatever. I do know that there are electrical currents in the brain, our hearts are stopped/started by electricity etc- that type of stuff is what convinces me.
And the sweat was DRIPPING from my skin into the workings of the keyboard. Just kidding. It was probably a combo of the nervous mistakes I was making... -

Huh. I dated a guy who had a "low left"... Now, he was a dyed in the wool skeptic/atheist buuuuut, he had a big old demonized ZODIAC WHEEL tattooed on his back. Could have opened him up to ALL sorts of demonic activity like NDEs... he never mentioned it. Good thing the nutsack never lies!

FMZ,
I agree with the points that Jeffro brough up. Good on the perspiration on the skin surface having something to do with it.
Also, I think that a person (you: -I assume you did the study...?) who believes in NDE, querying fellow believers in NDE who believe that their NDE can stop their watches is a little suspect...
My OWN totally irrational thought is that I have some horrible effect on computers. I ALWAYS have problems with them in a day to day way and it is RIGHT BEFORE an important presentation that I have problems in particular. I have had like 4 important presentations and for THREE of them the computer has not saved stuff that it waid it did, the program strangely crashed or some other odd thing happened.
Could this be explained by my high stress levels and extra sweat on my hands having an effect on the electronics??? Perhaps I am just more nervous and I make more mistakes than usual...
Who knows? But its surely not supernatural stuff- you'd agree with that right?
In the same way, I think that whatever is going on with these NDE folks- maybe they're high strung, have odd chemical balances, sweat more (?) or WHATEVER, but I think it is some physical reason that makes their watches act up...
Whaddya say? -

ey, hey, hey, I stayed on topic...
I am interested in the watch studies though... cause you always hear about someone who has a problem with their watches not running. I want to know why. It seems a common occurence. We all have electric properties of some sort- our brain run on it. I just think that those with the watch problem have some thing OTHER than effects of a near death experience (of course anyone can "nearly die" but I don't buy the light at the end of the tunnel thing...).
Does anyone know about different levels of electricity in different folks? we all have different levels of various chemicals, hormones etc. But different levels of electricity? Does it work in the same way (varying levels) as chemicals do in the human body?
Inquiring minds want to know...

Hi FMZ
(Still waiting to hear about this:
"Just think... one single experiment has recently shattered parts of the theory of relativity that scientists hold so dear (I'll get references if you would like), what next? The scientists with a vested interest in the materially-based philosophy of Western science obviously try to disregard the data provided, as it would hurt their wallets." -from the haunted apt thread.)
But anyway... at the risk of "hurting my wallet" I totally have to disagree with the watch thing even though I know this woman (from Santa Cruz CA) who says every time she walks along the Santa Cruz boardwalk there are extremely high waves and she cannot wear a watch because her extreme electrical currents (???) prevent it from working...
I don't know if she's had a "NDE" but I wouldn't doubt it. You say an informal study on the watches? Like on heresay from the "NDE" folks? Hmm.

by silentWatcher inhey, .
are there any current or ex-graduate students (hopefully graduated :0) on the board?
professional degrees (law, medicine, etc) count too.

Have you heard of Jeff Dean? He's well known in archeology -maybe in your field he's known? He works at our tree-ring lab.
