by yaddayadda in(could someone kindly format this for me into paragraphs where i have put a [ as i use mozilla firefox).
probably already been threads about these, but major puke alert with the first and third study articles in the dec 15th 2006. the society are really ramping up the doomsday rhetoric with these.

What song best epitomizes what keeps you going
by Lady Lee ini know a lot of song threads have been posted but i am interested in what and why a particular song moves you to keep going when you have lost so much.. if possible find the lyrics to the song and post them along with your what song and why it was so important.
as a kid i had an old 78 record player that i had to wind up to play (i did say old.
) there was one old record that had a song by ed ames 'the impossible dream" i was in foster care and had no contact with my family.

End of the line -travelin wilburys
Well it's all right, riding around in the breeze
Well it's all right, if you live the life you please
Well it's all right, doing the best you can
Well it's all right, as long as you lend a hand
You can sit around and wait for the phone to ring
Waiting for someone to tell you everything
Sit around and wonder what tomorrow will bring
Maybe a diamond ring
Well it's all right, even if they say you're wrong
Well it's all right, sometimes you gotta be strong
Well it's all right, As long as you got somewhere to lay
Well it's all right, everyday is Judgment Day
Maybe somewhere down the road aways
You'll think of me, wonder where I am these days
Maybe somewhere down the road when somebody plays
Purple haze
Well it's all right, even when push comes to shove
Well it's all right, if you got someone to love
Well it's all right, everything'll work out fine
Well it's all right, we're going to the end of the line
Don't have to be ashamed of the car I drive
I'm glad to be here, happy to be alive
It don't matter if you're by my side
I'm satisfied
Well it's all right, even if you're old and gray
Well it's all right, you still got something to say
Well it's all right, remember to live and let live
Well it's all right, the best you can do is forgive
Well it's all right, riding around in the breeze
Well it's all right, if you live the life you please
Well it's all right, even if the sun don't shine
Well it's all right, we're going to the end of the line
sort of helps me view my life in perspective- it is a happy yet thoughtful song

"You must not boil a kid in its mother's milk" - Huh?
by AlmostAtheist in"you must not boil a kid in its mother's milk" - huh?
why on earth did god feel the need to point this out?
was this a popular thing to do?

mm, I think that is a general rule the Israelites had about not overtaxing the resources. A Jewish friend and I were talking about that and she said that that rule about not using BOTH the milk AND the meat from your small group of goats was a measure to cause the Israelites to use restraint when utilizing their animals.

mmm, I think that I would like something that represents something cool or unique about the senders town or area.
I am starting up a christmas ornament collection (like we all are, I bet!) and think it would be neat to get a unique addition to it.
Also, I would LOVE to hear a little personal story from the sender... maybe a picture or something to make that person a little more real.
Love,

"Customer Service" Pet Peeves
by XJW4EVR ini hate when people use the "i'm new here" excuse, and then do absolutely nothing to try and find out what you are inquiring about or at least transfer you to someone that can help.. what are some of your "customer service" pet peeves?.

AAAARRRGHGH!
My worst one is where you are standing at the counter (of say a coffee shop) and the worker is busy doing stuff but makes eye contact with you and looks away. Just say "I'll be with you in a minute"!!!!!!! I hate just standing there and them not even acknowledging me!
I have been "counter help" and I know it is not difficult to just say those couple of words.

I highly recommend searching for him on youtube. there are a bunch of his speaking engagements and interviews which are informative and entertaining. they run from 10 minute interviews to 70 minute lectures at universities.
There's even one of him interviewing the gay sex/massage/meth user Ted Haggard (pre-arrest)! Funny funny funny!
But he is a good speaker and disseminates some great information (Dawkins, not Haggard!).

A reminder on Shunning family members again in the January 15th Watchtower!
by Gill injanuary 15th watchtower 2007 'remaining steadfast when a child rebels'.
'when discipline is severe'.
'if your child is unrepentant and is a baptized christian, he may receive the strongest form of discipline - being disfellowhipped from the congregation.

and this person said that gays are not welcome here and this is not what this board was really about.
i told them that this is only one part of the crap that the wts did to people and that we are people too.

Oh this is so priceless and really makes me smile:
((((((Danny Haszard))))))
***
I Danny Haszard am a straight friend to gay, lesbian and transgender folks, have tens of thousands of anti Watchtower pages up not one page is homophobic.
BTW I have secular worked for years in Boston heavy construction with a LOT of lesbians get along just fine.
***
I have this great image in my mind of Danny hanging with the lesbian heavy construction workers.
I think Danny is one of the sweetest people.
(sorry for hijacking a little to say that)

(who wishes there didn't even HAVE to be a discussion on gays- people's sexuality should have NO bearing on what we think of them as a person- but I AM impressed at the struggles that many gays (and many others who are a part of a group not accepted by society by no fault of their own) go through and how they rise above this challenge)
