when you were a witness, there must've been things that you really wanted to but couldn't because you were not able to.
give us some examples, please..

my son was about 5 years old when we stopped going to the meetings.
the other day i asked him what he remembers about them (his now 14 years old).
he remembered the puzzles i bought him to play with during the meetings.. he remembered that i packed a sandwich and some juice for him to eat in case he got hungry.. when he got board i use to take him outside for a walk around the kh garden.
I would draw in the books much to my mother's chagrin (as a small child). The backs of the chairs were in a knotty pine so I would study them and find shapes, creatures, faces, etc (sorta like watching clouds?). As I got older I started taking notes...that's what kept me busy otherwise my mind would wander and that would be a bad thing if it did because that meant I wasn't taking what Jehovah was telling me seriously! (not kidding.)
"ask and you shall receive.
" 1 john 3:22, .
the joke of the day.
"Do not be misled. Bad associations spoil useful habits." - 1 Corinthians 15:33
I swear that if i EVER hear that scripture come out of my mother's mouth again, I will....I will...well...I will do something!
how do your minds work people??.
the word 'cult'.
who is comfortable saying they were raised in a 'cult' or were brainwashed temporarily by a 'cult'?.
I tell everyone that I know that I was raised in a cult. I leave no stones unturned when describing it...i spread the word man...spread the word. Then again I also tell people that I'm on anti-depressants and am prone to bouts of depression. I am not ashamed of who I am or what has happened to me. To admit shame would be to say that it still has control and power over me. Ain't gonna happen. The Hopester

view everything as a "privilege from jehovah".
so naturally, wanting to be an elder was very important to me and to my family.
exactly. Dying on top. Maybe a lazy or cowardly way to go, but I'm sure of you felt crushed by the dub hand of 'light yoke.' :)

Please don't take this as me being jokey, cause I do have a tendency to not take a lot of things seriously...but I think deep down underneath the outward proclamations of "I want to be a special pioneer, or go to bethel..." underneath all of that my asparation was to die. Since death covered our sins, and I was a jehovah's witness and did 'everything' I was supposed to do that I would probably be resurrected in the new system and not have to suffer anymore inside of myself.
majorly f'ed up, eh?
so i was talking with an girlfriend that i had (actually the only friend i had in 'the truth').
we have recently reconnected, and she's still on the fence as to whether or not to go back into the org.
however, her aunt, an elder's wife and all-around snot rocket, let her know what was going on in the truth (i'm guessing to get her to come back full-time cause 'look at all that's happening, and it's the end!
yep. that's what I explained to my friend. I work in the printing industry too...we're all going through layoffs/streamlining procedures, to save time/money/etc. That's just what they're TELLING the flock.
exactly about the times 70, 80, 90, etc. every so often they stir themselves up into a frenzy, for this upcoming eventuality and then when it doesn't happen (cause it won't.) they have to find something to zero in on otherwise what's the point? I remember a scripture...Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. - Matthew 6:34

they say a picture is worth a thousand words.. .
to me, the picture posted below is one of the - if not the - most significant images i've seen so far in my life.
as i was growing up (a jw), i was taught that the universe was in perfect harmony.
and I'd say right on. :)

early 90's ....as in 1990s.
We were so close! 1994 I remember striking a particularly strong chord in me. We just KNEW that armegeddon was coming anytime! I was TERRIFIED!
I never understood that...that's something that always bothered me to when I was in...this joyous anticipation for the complete destruction of humanity as we know it. but you all know as well as I, since you all are now looking at life from both sides of the coin that most of the people we interact with are wholesome, good, loving people that just want happiness for themselves and those around them. How can anyone be excited about the 'potential' destruction of all these people? We say "I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy." When we read or witness some kind of atrocity that one can inflict upon another...how can we say "Yeah God! Kill em all!" when we're disgusted by comparison a very minute act of one person hurting another? I never looked forward to Armegedon. I was terrified...absolutely terrified of the potentiality of it.
when I read what Muffy* was saying, it set my teeth on edge all over again.

I was surprised as well to see that 'spirit' still so strong with them as well. That's why I wanted to post it...again I'm not sure if it's just this woman's take on what's being told to them from the podium or whether it's a more far-reaching message that's spreading in the congregations.
