  1/10 of an acre, cool doesn't take up much room, camp 1/2 an acre... I worked for mining and exploration for some years have alittle idea of what goes on. Lets not count the quiet bit of dumping that happens, run off, that doesn't hurt anything at all, nothing to worry about.

  Nothing lives there, nothing could live there, it's dark over half the year and there is no vegetation at all.

  artic fox, muskox, lynx, martin, caribou and some people wander through occasionally. Rather big area, quite pretty in the daylight 6 months of the year.

  Do Any Atheists Feel This Way?

  the atheists have done a pretty good job on me, i am just about to cast my lot in with them after all the reading and debating on the issue.

  they just seem to have all the answers and appear to hold the intellectual high ground, they do a good job of making one feel like a complete idiot for believing in a god, much less the christian version.

  so now that i am almost free of this delusional, magical thinking, religious burden of foolishly believing in a god and that there is anymore to life than what is right here how do i feel?

  My son died in my arms last year also, i have a little understanding. I have his memories.

  But don't have a need for a god to blame, nor to fall back on. For me this works.

  Mysterious is describes what it is for those of strange enough to except nothingness

  live like a god; know and respect the trillions of other gods around you; die like a god.

  I like this sentiment.

  I am not an atheist, but i don't believe in a higher power. Mortality is kind of a nice thing to have, makes me like where i am, enjoy the people around me and the make the most of the life i have. I am more aware of the hurt i do to others. (My poor excaping JW partner finds my family scary). Being nice to everyone is very new to him, regardless of what religon they do or do not belong to.

  He feels like he is losing his safety net. This seems to be very common to many leaving a belief so strongly built in. Seems easier to defect from life than from the JW. Is this right?

  If WT shuning practices were removed, what would be the result?

  imagine if the wt in brookline decided it was "scriptually incorrect" to shun ex-j.w.

  's for any reason, what do you think would happen if they stopped the shunning practice?

  i was never a j.w., so i'll leave it up to the experienced people here to conclude.

  richie's thread got me wondering what ever happened to the practice of chaperoning???

  i mean really, was this just a regional thing where i grew up?

  we had to have a chaperone always with the opposite gender even if we were old!

  i remember Dr peper, when they experimented with us in NZ, definatly cough syrup, thought was a pinky colour too.
