Nothing better to make us Westerners feel guilty over our lifestyle than to show poor African's when you want to raise money for something. How about highlighting their poverty in order to raise money for food? or shelter? And how about showing how much WT funds actually wind up supporting these Kingdom Halls? There is no information of that sort published or available anywhere.
I'm glad they have this new video - just goes to show all the dubbs how Jah speeds it up in his own time - chariots on fire!!

Living in a divided home

she is a devoted wife and a wonderful mother.

24k,
I am in a similar position to you. We were very active together (my wife and I) and I was a ministerial servant giving outgoing talks and the whole works. My fall was very swift, however, when a few issues had been simmering inside me for a while. As soon as I did a bit of research the whole thing just fell apart. I now consider myself an agnostic and am perfectly happy with it. My wife and I had a few arguments and tearful discussions about things, but we have now been able to come to some sort of understanding. She has stated on several occasions that she doesn't worry about me, and harping on the subject will not get anywhere. I attend the meetings with her, but no longer do anything, as I "stepped aside" as a servant as soon as I realized my true feelings.
I don't say prayer before our meals, but sit silently as she says hers. I do these things out of respect for her (as another mentioned above) - I want to. However, I do not go out in the ministry because I can see how that would put me in very awkward and compromising positions. I am not eager for my beliefs to come out in the open because of the reprisal that would bring and the pressure on my wife. I want her to feel like she has a supportive husband who is present and visible to others. I know she can't respect me for leaving the organization, but at least maybe she can respect me for how I handle myself in leaving.
With the heat I am starting to experience from my other family (mother primarily) I know it will probably only be a matter of time before I DA myself to just end it all. I can't take the drama anymore.
As far as my relationship with my wife - I don't think any other part of our life together has been compromised... we are just as intimate with each other as we were before, perhaps even more so, since I feel I am more honest with myself and her. Honesty with oneself is very empowering. We are begining to gain more common ground on our feelings about matters of life, even though she knows I don't adhere to what the FDS says. All in all, I think we have a very good start. If I had any counsel to give to you, it would be to not rush anything, giver her time, do not force any topics of discussion. We sometimes have to give up our right to defend ourself or our beliefs in order to maintain the peace in the household. I dearly love my wife and companion and occasionally keeping silent is not a difficult thing to do. I have not shown her any "apostate" material, and probably never will - if she ever leaves the JW's I want her to do it with her own mind, like me. She has had her own doubts in the past, I am certain they will surface again in the future.
No matter what, be patient and strong and she will gravitate to you.

ps - oh and one more thing. Do not spare any affection towards her! And I don't mean bringing home flowers once a month, I mean touching gently, look directly into her eyes, that sort of thing. -

In what condition are your roads where you live?
by JH inhere in quebec, the roads are horrible.
not only in my town, but the whole province, the road infrastructure is falling apart.. just to give an example... on the street where i live, the road wasn't paved in 40 years.
much of the city is like that, and all you see is pot holes, patches, and huge cracks everywhere.. you'd believe that they don't want to pave just before armageddon....would be a waste of money

"OFG - Are those pictures of Hwy 101? Coast Highway. We say much of that in southern Oregon."
The last pic is, but 101 is not the "coast highway" - that's highway 1. The last pic looks like the bend just north of Confusion Hill, where CALTRANS has a bypass planned that will cost over 100 million dollars, I believe. -

"Choosing a type of work that promotes what is directly condemned in the Bible is definitey wrong. So true Christians do not accept jobs that may involve idolatry, stealing, [etc]...." - g06 3/15 p.24 pa.11
THEN,
"What if the work itself does not specifically violate any divine requirement? As we grow in the truth and our own perceptive powers improve, we come to discern other criteria that must be considered. What if the work would involve us in an unscriptual practice, such as answering phones at a gambling establishment? [...] would a Christian who is a self-employed contractor bid on a job that involves painting one of the churches of Christendom and thereby share in helping to promote false religion?" - g06 3/15 p.24 pa.12
THEN,
"The Outcome - Always Good? [...] Will Decisions that are solidly grounded on Bible principles and made conscientiously always lead to a good outcome? Yes, in the long run. At times, though, the short-term effect may bring adversity. [...] Moreover, 'time and unforeseen occurrence' may adversely affect the result of any decision." - g06 3/15 p.31 pa.17
MY COMMENTS:
I love it whenever they talk about 'time and unforeseen occurrence.' Can it adversely affect the result of a spirit-directed decision? Aparently so....
Here's a pic I whipped up in Photoshop for you all: -

Canadian Bethel Farm Sold
by Bumble Bee ini heard last night that the canadian bethel farm has been sold.
the person told me that as a "special condition of sale" that they had to give the couple there looking after things 90 days to move out!
(law here in ontario requires 90 days notice given to tenants when a property is sold - so it's not really anything special.).

You have some serious self-esteem issues, and I would recomend some counseling for that. I could say all sorts of nasty things about this loser you call your boyfriend, but none of that matters if you don't come to know and love and respect yourself first. All the rest will come in time.

"Jehovah" DoesNot Prevent "Demon Possession"
by metatron inone of the enduring myths of being one of jehovah's witnesses is that it somehow prevents attacks by the demons.
in reality,.
nothing could be further from the truth.

"It's so negative to say jehovah doesn't protect you from violent attacks by your worst enemies as if your (physical) father has abandoned you."
It's a great opportunity to reinforce cooperation and submission by saying Jehovah will not protect against demon-possession. So if anyone is "possessed" it must be somethin wrong with them - like maybe they bought a nice leather wallet off Ebay that, unbeknownst to them, has a hair strand in it from someone who once cursed God - or some such nonsense. -

I grew up in a household with women who claimed to have multiple personalities. Regardless of the validity of (what is now known as) dissasociative disorders, I would almost rather live with an actual demon-possessed person than what I lived with. It's pretty much the same kind of experience - constantly looking over your back, scared as hell, not knowing what to expect from one minute to the next, fearing for your safety, weird noises, speaking in tongues, seizures, physical manifestations of every conceivable emotional trauma... it goes on and on.
When I was about 19 years old I finally started to realize why this religion attracts so many f'd-up women and men. I began to feel resentful to Jehovah for not preventing any of this in "his" organization. In our congregation, we had a young girl who would regularly experience seizures and since she was newer in the 'truth' and had recently thrown out icons and stuff, everyone thought she had a demon. So every single meeting she would drop to the ground and start foaming at the mouth and flopping around. All the elders would rush to the back and drag her outside or into the library and hold her down while she came out of it screaming "JEHOVAAAHAAHAAAH" at the top of her lungs while all the kids in the hall crapped their pants because they were so frightened. It was my job to explain to the visiting speaker before the meeting to just ignore any kind of "disturbance" in the back of the hall during his talk. LOL oh my goodness it is hilarious in retrospect... one time we had a visitng speaker from a nearby congregation who kept repeating the same thing over and over again when the girl was having her seizure because he couldn't concentrate. He was sweating bullets up there. As the chairman, I was two seconds away from just walking up to the stage to tell everyone to go home, when she finally quieted down. But every single meeting it would happen. I began to wonder how a bunch of intelegent people believed this girl had a demon, when her symptoms were so classic. After about a year of this, people started leaving our hall and attending other congregations because it was such a nuisance and stressful thing - not the fact that she was having seizures, but because the elders were caught in this delusion that they had to perform some sort of holy excorsism - I mean seriously, two or three elders would hold her down while one prayed out loud and another read a watchtower or the Bible beside her. I was in a perpetual state of WTF?
