Telling people that, in essence, the end is NOT near is a losing proposition. If you want people to last in the faith, they're gonna need to have a more balanced activity level, meaning less field service, fewer meetings, and other pointless busywork.

Attended DC this weekend, quick recap...the End may not be imminent could take a million years but its still coming
by shopaholic inattended the dc this weekend in california with a jw acquaintance of mine that wanted to go 'jw man-hunting' and didn't want to go alone.
she knows i'm not active and haven't been to a meeting in a long time and have no interest in jw men.
i think she feels like she has the best of both worlds with me, anyway it was interesting...the gb appears to be changing their tune and i don't think the masses even realize it.. br.

Maybe it depends on the kind of headache. Like, NO sex if it's a migraine. YES sex if it's the garden variety headache.
Where in the H...E.....double hockey sticks is nathmedeah??? I'm sure I read sex is good for a headache. And it works for me, I swear.
Well there ya go.. I bet it's psychosomatic. You're brain's way of telling you "go get sex, palmtree."

It releases endorphines, natural painkillers.
Enjoy!
It also increases blood pressure which can royally screw with your headache. Bad idea.

If it's a mild tension headache I try to loosen my shoulders a little bit, do some light exercises, maybe drink some caffeinated beverage (coke, coffee, tea).
It's moderate I take tylenol or ibuprofin.
If it's more severe I'll do all the above and go lie down with an ice pack at the back of my neck and head.

angel eyes... I do know the truth! I want to come back! Please contact some elders for me. I need to study again.. maybe the Require brochure? Or do you think that's a little too advanced? Maybe the Bible Story book? I used to serve at Bethel, raised in the truth, gave public talks as an MS, but I think I need to go back and learn the basics again, as well as humility. What is God's name again? Who is the faithful slave? I always wonder that now!!! It's like I forgot everything!!!111

My Reservations About Calling the Garridos JWs
by undercover inthis thread contains my thoughts after having read several other threads regarding the garridos being jws.... just because it is reported that the garridos are jws doesn't mean that they are really witnesses.... they may have some link to jws such as her being rasied one, his studying while in prison or any number of possibilites where they came to know a little about jwism.. even if they were baptized along the way somewhere doesn't mean that they were active, participating members in the local congregation.. there's a lot wrong with the jw religion and it's policies have helped protect pedophiles and other sexual predators from being brought to justice but i have reservations about shouting from the rooftops that the garridos were jws, when 1) it hasn't been confirmed and 2) it really doesn't do anything to expose the wt society's culpability in covering up sexual abuse.. the garridos are truly whacked.
i'm sure that local jws are just as horrified at what's happened as the average person is.
if the garridos had any connection with a local hall, i bet that the local jws were wary of them due to his nuttiness.

georgiegirl wild suppositions and speculations are one thing but the really valuable aspect of discussing this case is that it highlights the weaknesses of the lifestyle advocated by Jehovahs witnesses and that they see as their strengths.
And how is the "lifestyle advocated by JWs" related to what happened?

Bethel Brother for 15 years called to "head office" thought he was qoute: "Going to get fired."
by Witness 007 inhe's been there since the early 1980's and was called to the "head office" for the first time in 15 years!
i was told he crapped himself saying i qoute: "i thought they were going to fire me.
" instead he got a free trip to korea to represent our bethel during the next convention....a reward or bonus for his many years of service....the elder who told me about this said how "kind" bethel is to do this, but i just thought damn, the guys been getting $50 bucks a month pay for 15 years...at least send him to disneyland as well!.

Yep, I have personal experience with Home Overseers rifling through my stuff. Their pretexts for doing so was preposterous. But their reaosning is that at Bethel you are part of the Bethel Family, and as such, have to obey the "heads" of that Family, even if it has nothing to do with Biblical principle or individual conscience. I had to throw out a lot of good books and video games, just to reaffirm my loyalty to the "company".

Does everyone else get this reaction from their JW family when discussing objections to the religion?
by jambon1 inwhen pointing out my objections to the jw religion with my wife, i have noticed a worrying trend which even after 3 or 4 years shows no sign of relenting.. after speaking calmly for an hour or so and logically pointing out my objections, my wife starts to put forward outrageous assertations about my points.
for instance, if i am refering to the fact that disfellowshipping is a form of extreem punishment & i mention the terrible effects that being d/f'd can have on people, she will eventually retort with something like "so what you are saying is that we should tolerate paedophiles, rapists & thieves in the organisation then?".
of course, i've never at any point said anything of the sort.. or if i have been overly critical of the amount of control the society wants over peoples lives, she would reply "so what you are saying is that we should all just go out & do what we want, get drunk & live an immoral life?

Your success at fading is proportional to your success at interacting with elders. Find a way to brush them off, but without giving the impression that you don't want to talk to them. The best way to do this is to tell them you need a break, and that you have been struggling with depression.
