Yeppers!
My ex got out of several DUIs for being on the force .
So what kind of people drive drunk? If a cop is that irresponsible with his own life, and that of others, why the hell should I trust them?
in the local paper there are 2 different towns that are dealing with possible police misconduct.
one situation involves thousands of dollars worth of pot stolen from the police locker where the drugs were supposed to be safe.
now the feds and state are involved in finding out who was responsible for the theft.

i don't know how legitimate - we do not yet have a good link - but here it is: (from a car forum i go to) -.
heard on the radio today,a loaner lexus crashed ,killing 4 on board, driver was an off duty cop, going 120+ into an intersection hit an other car, driver was on phone with 911 ,were he said no brakes[witnesses said fire was coming out of the wheels, like driver had brakes full on],prelim says dealer installed floormats jammed gas pedal on,,car had no ignition key just a pushbutton start,,sad, but my only thought is why didn't he put the shifter into nuetral ?.
most of the california posters seem to be believing that this is the real thing.
I have had my floor mats mess with how far i could compress the brake pedal, but no where near a life-threatening situation, since I didn't have to slam on them at any point. The solution, is to find smaller floor mats or simply cut out a piece of your old one to make sure it won't interfere.

Their primary job is to keep order.
That's only one type of cop: there are all sorts of different units for different purposes, and I'd hardly call their jobs to keep order. Quite the contrary. If they wanted to keep order, all narc units would be eliminated.

Police forces are filled with blockheads who barely scraped through high school, have not the intelligence and mental discipline for college, are addicted to adrenaline rushes, and who are attracted to a position of power. Why in the world would I trust such a person?
i think many witnesses go thru the motions and may not 100% believe everything but i've kind of been subjected to only a few witnesses lately.. what's your experience regarding the genuiness of jehovah's witnesses?
are they totally committed or not?.
All I can say is what I myself did, and what it seemed like others were doing. I was totally going through the motions. There would be spurts of motivation and dedication, but it never lasted. Like two or three months where I'd get 20+ hours in service per month, study for the meetings, and prepare really good parts on the service meeting. But then it'd get to the point where I couldn't keep it up and I'd slack off, not really caring, and go into a little mini-crisis of depression, anxiety, and self-doubt.
i read threads about reform and needed changes.
i don't like the idea.
i personally think that a harmful dangerous mind-control cult should not find some way to moderate slightly to keep their membership.
I think dozy nailed it.
The religion must mainstream or die. Like any corporation, it must adapt its policies to a changing world, or risk obsolescence.
don't let any of the watchtower's propaganda deceive you.
i encountered some private conversations among witnesses about the subject and it's ugly.
yes, there is suffering as many of these victims try to live on charity and can't find jobs in the worst economy since the depression.. some of their private observations include shock that you need a college degree for nearly any job and that the watchtower society couldn't have picked a worse time to do this to them .. all the while these complaints are discussed, i try not to show that i am astounded by their bizarre "logic".
The worst part is that although I know I should rally and get on with my life and pursue freedom, there is something like a "self-destruct mechanism" planted in my brain by JW teachings. "The world is hopeless. Look at all the problems. There are no real friends out there. Nobody who leaves is really happy." And all my friends and family are in the bOrg. Although I'm trying to fade and ease my mind and life away from the cult, it's a battle to admit that I've wasted so much time and energy on a lie.
That's tough, Billy. I hope you can make those last couple steps into intellectual and emotional freedom. For me, feeling free emotionally is the hardest of all. Growing up in the JWs, there were always so many things that controlled our futures, our potentials, that it often felt like everything was mapped out for us and there really were no other possibilities.
I don't know what the solution is for you to make those last steps into your own person... it's hard--I'm learning as well, because in many ways we're becoming people that we never prepared to become.
JWism does not breed self-confidence.
below is a pretty well done report on the russian situation.. http://www.russiatoday.com/top_news/2009-07-13/will_jehovah_s_witnesses_be_banned_in_russia.html.
isaac.
The WTBS probably hopes they will be banned, so they can cry persecution and drum up donations to "help the brothers. "
hi posters.
could someone give me the latest on cos and whether they are disappearing or not?
please feel free to post recent links i may have missed.. .
The only single CO I knew of was the most egotistical person you could imagine. He would bring single sisters into the back room to interview them for the "position" of being his wife.

Upto the point of "becoming CO", your write-up is a virtual 100% accurate biography of more than 1 person I know.
That's why its so funny. Absolutely spot-on. Exchange cheap wine with Xanax/Prozac/etc. and you cover the other half...
