I'll pick on AE as long as she unfailingly seeks to minimize the experiences of others and talk about stuff she doesn't know about, like Bethel.

It's not as simple as that. The city would have to pay an enormous sum to get the proper infrastructure and civic spaces in place. Sure, it would create short term work, but at a huge cost to taxpayers in the long-term.
Many Chicagoans cared because it would have put Chicago on the international map as a destination for more tourism. Right now we get US tourism. International tourism would be fantastic.
I think a hurdle would be the fact that Chicago is in the middle of the country, in the middle of "no where," respectfully speaking. What does Chicago have that can compare to the geographic variety of southern CA, or the center-of-the-world feeling of NYC? I'm not trying to denigrate Chicagoans or whatever, just expressing the fact that I find it doubtful Chicago can ever really be an internation destination. Coastal cities will always come first, in my opinion.

I don't think so... the name checks out, this guy certainly could have been a Bethelite, based on 1) Billy's recolection of his full name, 2) his placement at Wallkill, and 3) my search showing he's now located in Middletown (the closest large town to the Farm).

OK, now I really fail to get it...if he is a mortgage banker since 2001, was he being a mortgage banker while he was at Bethel (or the Farm)?

Since you would like to know so bad, why don't you just call him. Are you suspicious of using Google too? or would you just like to talk jibberish and bouces around in doubt. It's not that hard to find anyone nowadays fare fellows.
No need to be a dick, man. Not all of us are immediately suspicious, but just want more info. I did indeed google his name and came up with nothing. Do you have his contact info? Which complex did he serve at? How did you hear of his situation?
