What a vile woman, to coldly shoot a man without even asking about his undoubtedly troubled past, his fears, his weaknesses. Life is so cheap.
I know, surely he was abused in the past, and just needed some therapy.

ok some of you will laugh at this, but it's true, there is a spirit that haunts the premises where i work.. it has spoken to me once when i was locking up, it was 1 single word "hello", i looked around and saw nothing, i ignored it, set the alarm locked the door & went home.
other times i have felt something brush passed me as i have entered the building early in the morning.
the experience that got to me most happened the other nite when i was called back to the store by security, as i pulled into the drive way there was a man standing at the rear of the building, in the split second of looking away he dissapeared, there's no way that he could have run off the property in that split second.. what do you think?.
This thread again?

I don't think any gun-control supporting husband could honestly say they'd rather have their wife unarmed in a situation like this.Nor would any other gun-control advocate. Those aren't the people they're trying to keep guns away from.
The laws that are passed to reduce accessibility to firearms affects law abiding citizens more than criminals, simply because criminals do not abide by the regulations in the first place. So despite what gun-control advocates say, their policies make it harder for women like this to weild a shotgun in her own home, depending on the state.

Well of course it was "homocide," unless they guy's still twitching.
for everyone who is going back to school (and i know there are several of us, not just me!
what do you wish you had known before going back?
(i'm looking for questions dealing with the process of returning to school).. for those who haven't gone back but want(ed) too, what held you back?
Here's a tip: If you want a job, go into healthcare.
If I could redo my college education (BS + Masters), I would seriously consider being a Physician's Assistant, or going into Physical Therapy.

People going back to school need to understand the difference between learning for the sake of learning and learning for a job or profession. Like jamie says, a lib arts degree is probably not going to get you a good job. A lib arts degree might be great for someone who wants to learn, but not for someone who would like a better career. This is something that a lot of people jst don't understand... especially witnesses.
so i have my daughter (a 33 year old choreographer turned psych student) reading rah.
so far she's read double star and tunnel in the sky, she stayed up all night friday night finishing tunnel.
she's working on the moon is a harsh mistress now.
Dune is a must-read... probably my favorite SF book of all time.
I also like Asimov, of course, with the Foundation Trilogy being the best of his stuff, in my opinion.
Also Larry Niven who wrote Ringworld, which is great.
Arkady and Boris Strugatsky are awesome and a great intro to Soviet-era SF literature. My favorite of theirs is Definitely Maybe.
And of course Heinlein is a must read, with his most popular being Stranger in a Strange Land.
I think everyone should read The Martian Chronicles by Bradbury regardless of whether youre a SF fan--very "human" stories.

all 4 men were dressed in dress coats and suits and ties.
as they emerged from the car they all had this goofy look on their faces like they were so happy to be going to the donut/ coffee shop.. so stupid looking..
Ah yes, the 10:30 morning coffee break, so soon needed after an hour of driving around and vollunteering each other to go to a door.

i move in circles where most people would find it absurd to believe that humans didn't evolve from prehistoric ancestors, yet many of these same people quite happily believe in astrology, psychics, reincarnation, the tarot deck, the i ching, and sooth-saying.
I'm having some major problems posting the whole article, but you can read it at: http://blogs.suntimes.com/ebert/2009/12/new_agers_and_creationists_sho.html
