We are such an advanced species that we haev developed these moral codes (murder is bad, etc.) in order to protect and benefit our kind. If anything causes social upset between members, that cause is demonized and animalized - reminding ourselves that we are better (top predators) and more powerful as a species.

Those announced as "no longer regular pioneers"
by stillAwitness in3 sisters were announced as such at this past meeting (2 of which have a family member who was recently d'f but the third had been pioneering for as long as anyone can remember)
coincidence?
or possibly they were caught in some freaky-deaky 3 way love fest?

Well, I guess it varies from cong. to cong., I just thought you wern't supposed to announce it when a pioneer went off the list. I went off the list like 4 different times and they never pulled that with me. Regardless, they must of did something 'really bad' to get removed like that! I wonder if they just went round to tanning salons out in service and ate smoothies.

What's Your Typical Sunday Like Since Not Going To Meetings?
by minimus ini usually sleep late, lounge, go out for breakfast....when it's warmer weather, i'm up early, exercising and enjoying *life*.

Well, I'm not entirely free of the Sunday meeting, but when I am, it gives me a chance to catch up on all my oncoming work for the newxt week. If I don't start work Sunday I get hammered mid-week.

"I guess point being, how DAMAGING the WTS is!! "
If the WTS is what broke my belief in a personal God then I dont think it is all that damaging. Belief in a God who brings retribution for the error of some person thousands of years ago is evil. Justification of it for the sanctity of his name is the height of egotism. And explanation of it through convoluted predictions and re-tellings of history about a 'ransom' for a non-existant capture (or sin) is the height of guile. The Christian faith, like ALL faith, is mythology. What amazes me is that humans finally can afford to rid themselves of the chains of faith and embrace a true age of reason - but we still continue to live our lives based on absolute belief and rationalize any course action to kill the enemy, who, of course, does not have the truth. Belief in absolute truth (as pertains to the meaning of life) is dangerous, and the condescending pity of absolutist adherents belies their claim of compassion and love. -

I'd like to know who the hell would come across a dead animal somewhere and say "that looks mighty tasty!"

I am not an athiest. I simply do not feel the need to try to know God anymore or find out what he/she/it wants of me.
If I grow into an old man and still have this feeling, I will not be sad about it. I would rather feel this way than try all my life to figure out the Universal Question.
I can honestly say I never knew this Yahweh. There is nothing in the Bible that, to me, gives a remotely accurate depiction of what the Ultimate Entity must be. In the Christian Bible, God is anthropomorphized into something we know and respect. But even then, it was done by men thousands of years ago, so part of this God's personality reflects the values and culture of a time long ago.
All this talk about how the WT keeps people from God is bullshit. I've read the fucking King James Bible and I am aware of the viewpoints of Christians. It's not much better than belief in Jehovah. I do not need forgiveness for my sins because there is no such thing as sin. What better way to control civilization than to convince them they need forgiveness for some inherent error? Calling on faith is the oldest trick in the book. -

Blondie,
I know for sure they no longer announce pioneers going off the list, so they likely did it in this instance due to some "wrongdoing" on the pioneers part as part of some private reproof. -

"1. Maybe the sister could not do the required 90+ hours a month and informed her elders."
In this case, an anouncement would not be made and likley not for any of the other reasons as well. Typically, announcements are never made regarding pioneers going off the list. -

What Bethelites Are Saying About The Layoffs
by wanda infor those who have friends there or who just left there, what is being said about this?
-

"I would prefer to see some actual evidence as opposed to "friend of a friend" or "my cousin Joey" reports. That's not too much to ask is it?"
Some of us here on JWD have close family members in Bethel who we converse with regularly. I'm sorry you're not privy to these discussions. Perhaps you can go take a tour of a US Branch and gather your own information. But then, if you reported it here, wouldn't still be "hearsay" to all of us? My point is, stop being a dick.
