Tell us about your Profile Pic
by Beck_Melbourne injust wondering about some of the profile pics...i think its nice to know a bit about the person you want us see, or the person you don't want us to see.
so what were you thinking when the pic was taken, how long ago, and where were you?
mine was taken last month, just after my 36th birthday.

Does God still exist for you?
by nakedmvistar ini'm quite new to this forum (only a handful of posts).
but from what i've read up to now, it seems apparent that some of you have abandoned your belief in a god.
is this because of trauma brought about by the jw religion?

Does God still exist for you?
The God of organized religion does not exist for me anymore-that is about as much as I know. I do believe there is "something out there, something bigger than me", a larger purpose. I think a lot of people feel that and insist on putting face on it (ie organized religion). As a JW, everything was figured out for me ahead of time. As a child, the WT was in my lap and the Great Teacher book, it was all spelled out. Now, I guess I'm a "free-thinker" in the sense that I'm willing to consider any idea and any possibility. At this point I'm real comfortable saying I don't have it figured out yet....

Lost Diamond,
Your brother is very kind! We must meet someday. Maybe we should join Ginny and Dave at the pub this Friday! Or at least schedule some other date.
HS- Sorry to miss you in PDX, let us know when you're back in the area! We will be expecting a party...(good suggestion Dave!)

Hello Ven & Salud,
Nice to see you two! Ven, you have to develop that film girl! Salud, I just learned how to upload a picture, I'm so excited! Now I have to figure out how to lighten it up a little!

Years ago, I used to think it was flowers and candy or soft music. That relationship didn't work out. (he stayed a JW, I got df'd etc, etc..) My husband now, Steve, isn't much on flowers but every morning, when the alarm goes off, he gets up and comes back with my bathrobe. It makes my heart all squishy just typing it. We've been together 5 years, and I've learned that for me, it's those little things that are super romantic......

Where were you?
by joannadandy in.
sorry if this has been done to death, i only did a quick scan and didn't see a topic like this, so i appologize in advance if this was started someplace else.. this morning i woke up and thought about where i was last year, and the complete shock i felt at this same time last year...and i was just wondering if any of you had those same feelings this morning.. so where were you?
i always find stories of what people were doing at the time they heard to be really interesting-please share if you'd like.

I was at home, on my treadmill when the first plane hit. I thought it was an accident, maybe the pilot had suffered a heart attack or something. Then, the second one hit. I remember I turned around and looked at my husband behind me and jumped off the treadmill. I guess I just knew something awful was happening.
We found out shortly after, that one of my husbands college roommates had been on American Airlines flight 11. We waited to hear his name read outloud this morning at the ceremony.

I Got 9/11 on My Mind + Kind Words + Photos
by Mister Biggs ini wanted to save my 911th post for 9/11 and do a tribute.
obviously, i'm almost a week early but what the heck...i feel like i need to make my tribute today.. i was at work (probably like most of you on the east coast) when it happened.
my wife was born and raised in brooklyn, ny and her parents' apartment had an awesome view of the wtc.

Mr Biggs, thank you for the pictures....
I can't believe 9/11 is almost here. It still feels like an unhealed wound. I remember where I was, what I was doing, just like everyone else. I live on the West Coast, so it was early. I was running on the treadmill and thought the first plane was a horrible accident, maybe the pilot had a heart attack or something, then the second one hit. I cried for days, like everyone. Just when the tears were gone, we found out that (my husband) Steve's college roomie had been on American Airlines flight 11 and had just gotten engaged the weekend before. It just hit home even more. I still think about all those kids who lost parents, and parents who lost children, spouses ect.. Innocent people! It makes me so angry, even now a year later.
