of cause paul defended his recital and was sent on to rome to appear before caesar.. many believe that paul was not mad and was the founder christianty.. comparing this to the present day governing body, they are always defending themselves, whether it about doctrinal issues, name any you can think of, blood transfusions, pedophilia, the way they treat the rank and file, legal issues etc.
they too have appeared in court before "caesar" sometimes they win and sometimes they lose.

I don't think they've gone mad at all, though a few of them may have gone senile.
They are determined to hold on to their power at all costs, and will do anything to do so. The mishandling of paedophile cases is designed to protect the increasingly-batterred reputation of the org. The blood policy is so confusing now that very few, if any jws understand it, which siuts the gb. Their recent change in understanding, as they will view it, of the gathering of the anointed will enable them to postpone armageddon for a bit longer.
Everything they do does not suggest the actions of a group of madmen to me, but those of a scheming group of men who know exactly how to hold on to their control of the 6.5 million or so jws under their authority.

Taking predictions for the 2007 memorial partakers!!
by cultswatter ini'm doing this well in advance so that all the wonderful people on jwd can look back later and see just how close they were to the actual number!
(it is possible the wts might stop publishing the partaker numbers) in a few days, i will duly record the link to this thread for future reference.. remember that there were 8524 partakers in 2005 and 8758 partakers in 2006, an increase of 234 partakers.
so how many remnant will partake in 2007??.

1984 WT Bound Volume; a review of Cult gold!

i happened to be at my mothers house last night, and decided to look up the whole explanation of the 1914 doctrine.
i have seen from others on here and also the internet the covers from some of the 1984 watchtowers that talk about 1914, a focal point of bible prophecy?, 1914, the generation that will not pass away, etc.

Spot on Crumpet. They realised that time was running out for the generation of 1914 - they were dying off and the watchtower would be faced with another failed prophecy to explain, so they came up with a completely ambiguous teaching, and now no one knows which "generation" will by no means pass away before the end comes.
They are doing exactly the same now with the general gathering of the anointed, which was, according to them, 1935. They have thrown that idea into the trash, and now say that all the anointed may not have been gathered - after almost 2000 years all those worthy of heaven haven't been contacted yet, in other words. It's another way of postponing armageddon in the minds of their followers. They are showing signs of real desperation with this latest change, which they sneaked into a question from readers article rather than a wt study, and it really makes me wonder how these charlatans have any followers at all nowadays.

Thanks for posting this, Leolaia. I'd heard about it, but never actually read it, and I'd bet it was never in a watchtower!
The watchtower leaders of the day should have been thoroughly ashamed of themselves, and I doubt the current gb are thrilled at the prospect of this letter being accessible nowadays.

Baptist evangelizer at the mall
by Scully ini have a teenager who likes to meet her friends at the mall and go shopping.
she's a neat kid, quite outspoken and opinionated, kind of like how i wish i was when i was her age.
she has adopted a style that's a cross between "emo" and "punk rock" and she wears her hair and makeup in a way to elicit a shocked response from older more conservative folks.. so she's at the mall the other day and comes home when she's supposed to, and wants to show me what someone gave her.

I would be tempted to ignore the incident and throw the tract away without taking any further action, except for this
those vulnerable kids who will get sucked in to an evangelical baptist cult that is basically no different than the JWs.
Your daughter obviously won't get sucked in, but there may be more vulnerable kids who might. If this person is canvassing without a permit, then maybe contacting mail security to get her removed is the right thing to do.

i have so many cards now trev will have to put another shelf up to display them all.
it's great to be here at home to receive them myself as well, i have been in hospital when all the others have arrived, so thank you all so much for all your good wishes.
