i'm just curious to know where my parents register on the scale of strictness...
growing up, i felt absolutely smothered by my parents (mostly my mother).
the things i couldn't do were above and beyond the limitations put on the other young people in our hall.
Its amazing how many stories here are alike.
Talk about living the same lives.
I guess our parents were convinced these things that the Society said was true and for the good of the children.
Why are they so harsh on kids?? Doesnt make sense?? Wouldnt that make them leave when they grow up?? I dont think too many embrace it when they grow up and have a mind of their own - even though it took me until I was 35 I did finally see it.

my last 2 posts have been so sad that i thought i would tell you about something that i remembered once when the jw"s came a calling.
i guess it would have been funny if it wasn't so darn embarassing!
when i was younger i was trying to 'get fit' and had taken to doing aerobics in my loungeroom.
A very similar thing happened to me when I was knocking on doors...I was so embarrassed I didn't know what to do so I just kept on doing my presentation and politely left after she said no - not interested.

i have finally started to read captive hearts, captive minds.. they say something that got me to thinking.. i used to feel embarassed to tell non-jws that i was a jw.
it was one thing to tell people at the doors.
it was totally another thing to tell other people.
I was always embarrassed being a JW.....all 35 years of it!!!
I am not embarrassed about being a Christian though

is jehovah really god's name?
if he wanted his name to be known, he's all-powerful, omnipotent... i know that he has the power to make sure that his name is used correctly.
turn to paslm 14 verse 13 and it will show you gods name i hope this has help you

I didnt look to any religion at 1st - but have found an excellent non-denominational church.
We are now Christians and attend our non-denom. Church - because we want to belong to Christ alone and NO religious group or body - EVER!!

Yeah Riverview is awesome!! The music is the best!!
Hillsong Church in Sydney has around 20,000 members - Riverview has about 5,000. We have a lot of Hillsong music but also a lot of home grown stuff....and YES they have many CD's and DVD's....and they are really cool!!

Thankfully I questioned everything in the end and found out who God really is and the history of the JW's....My wife and I were shocked after reading CoC and C/freedom. We never whent back. We sent a letter to the society to remove our names - not sure if we were disfellowshipped or not???
My family and I are now Christian and we go to a huge Church here in Western Australia called Riverview. It has about 5000 members and is non-denominational. It is really cool!!
