by bats in the belfry inhuibers, a christian, used books 6-9 of genesis as his inspiration, following the instructions god gives noah down to the last cubit.
translating to modern measurements, huibers came up with a vessel that works out to a whopping 427 feet (130 meters) long, 95 feet (29 meters) across and 75 feet (23 meters) high.

Notwithstanding, this should put the naysayers to bed with their taunts that it is impossible to build an ARK that actually floats like the one described in the bible.
This no more proves that an ancient Noah could have built and floated a full-sized ark than the U.S.N. Nautilus proves that the ancient Romans could have had submarines.

Exactly, Billy - the operative words being "fabricate" and "wrath of an a$shole CO that cares about nothing but the numbers".
On assembly attendance figures, we were constantly told (as attendants who did the count) - are you sure you counted all the babies? Did you add a few numbers for people who might be walking around or were in the bathroom?
It all depended on who was in charge at the moment and how badly they wanted numbers.
And again (on topic) - that 0.26% increase is one sick puppy.

We are just guessing, Gayle - but some of us who were involved in turning in these numbers KNOW they cooked them in the past - at least on the congregational level - to please the circuit overseer.
We are wondering too - how bad could it really have been, if this is the best they felt they could manufacture out of their statistics?

I wonder how much the figures are getting cooked. It isn't like their numbers are getting any kind of an outside audit.
I wondered the same thing. I know for a fact (from experience) that the publisher numbers, the hours, hell - even the attendance numbers at memorial and assemblies - were always cooked upward. Which made me think - wow! If a 0.26 increase over 2011 is the best they can cook the books, then how bad must it REALLY be?

And that is exactly what I think they are doing, Chaserious. The selling off of the NY property, cutting way, way back on paper printing (maybe ending it completely in the future) and greatly downsizing the Bethel and farm staffing seem to be all in this direction.
An inner core of a couple of hundred could live out their existence very well on the investment income they have.
Interesting, though, that many on JWN could see this coming over five years ago.

Sweet! If I'm not mistaken, the "United States" numbers include all non-English congregations within the U.S. as well.
I'd love to see what the English-only stats are.
Excellent point. If they do still have growth in the non-English congregations, they must be having some pretty bad negative growth in the English ones.

CO Disfellowshipped in UK
by konceptual99 inso, i have it on very good authority that a co has recently been disfellowshipped in the uk.
he has just finished serving the north west london area.
i don't know any details but perhaps there is someone who does know what happened.

We had a CO that was df'd after our congregation visit. He was knocking boots with some of the sisters. Apparently, his wife found a love letter
Was that possibly in the 1960s? We had a CO who showed up at our congregation and only stayed for 3 days of the visit.
He said he was "called back to his old circuit for a judicial meeting". I think the old circuit was in Missouri.
Turned out it was a judicial meeting on HIM - he had a sexcapade with a younger pioneer woman there, and she confessed after he got re-assigned.
Interestingly, they did not publicly announce him being DFd in our circuit - it was just told around by the servants to a few insiders.
We were not sorry to see him go - just the short taste we got of him made it pretty clear that he was a sarcastic, egotistic, nasty piece of work.
